Before I got to bed every night I the four kouls (spelling?) Ayat-tul-kursi, Fatiha, and the four Kalimah's. I cant sleep if I dont read them; the one time I accidently fell asleep I had a horrifying dream.

Before going to bed I will lie there and say a quick dua to Allah (swt). THen I will repeat Alhamduliah (33 times), Subhanallah (33 times), and then Allahu Akbar (34 times)..............finally I will reflect on my day and count the many signs of Allah (swt) has given me and if I have acted upon them and thanked Him................oh and all this is after reading the Quran say up in bed.

As for looking for Allah (swt) in the darkness of the night? No, but I shall think of that tonight inshallah

Reminds me of what Shaykh Hamza Yusuf said last week..

That the seeker is in fact the one being sought.. We search for Allah(swt).. in reality it is Allah(swt) who is calling us to Him.. we're seeking and we're also being sought.

Anas reported from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in what he reported from his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic. He said, "When the slave comes towards Me a hand-span, I go an arm-length towards him. When he comes towards Me an arm-length, I go a fathom towards him. When he comes towards Me walking, I go towards him running." [al-Bukhari]
