i need a new laptop, ive had my other one for about 5 years now and i think its going to die.
Im loving this one, can one of you nerd folk tell me if its any good?

most of your money will be going towards the prettyness and the brand name, you could get same specs for like half the price :D

Not too sure if i'm a nerd, although i wish i was sometimes:o anyhow, i've got this laptop [in red, even though i wanted pink:D] for a few months now and it seems quite good, al-Humdulillaah. I don't know much about computers, so i can't help with what is working well, and what it contains, etc...Insha-Allah i was of some help:)

Yes the same. My brother got it for me from this computer software store that sells other things too. It was 1, 800 something and yeh it has vista and ms office 2007.

no i think it sucks. my friend got it in december and it broke down on her in just weeks and then she had her warranty got it fixed up and then it died again.... sony is unreliable
the covers are cute though

negative feedback about products are very important because the can be the deciding factor of whether you will end up purchasing it or not.

I own a sony viao similar same size just not a glossy red. a mad silver. Tho I hate it. Its a crap laptop and no doubt I am getting rid of it next month. Sonyviao is good but the latest ones are better. How much is it going for?
Vaios are pretty good laptops. I prefer Macbook Pros (costs about 200$ or so more than Vaios of similar config)

the Price is good value compared with the specs. but i dont know much about VAIO reliability.

hmm.....I think I may need I new laptop too. Although I could never afford one, not now anyway. The one I'm using momentarily died yesterday and refused to start up even after it had been fully charged. Of course I started freaking out. I mean, what would I do without my internet family? *grabs head* What shall I ever do without Ummah Forum?

sony is crap, get a toshiba.
I cracked up the first time I heard Sony was planning on making a laptop. Conjured up images of walkmen and playstations. Get a Dell XPS.
Nah it doesn't scratch easily...but it does get dirty easily:o
This is my first laptop and ive just had it for about 2-3 months, so i dnt know if you wanna go with my advice. Perform istikhara insha-Allah and you should be fine :)
well the reason i want a vaio is because 2 of my siblings have one and they reccomended them.
retail price of he laptop is around 800pounds but as a teacher if i order it through the school i should be able to get the VAT knocked off. so if i was going to go for a spec that cost that much anyway, why not a vaio.

I work in IT Support and last week I set up and configured a new SONY Vaio laptop (Vista Business, 11.1" screen, 2Gb RAM) and its a lovely little machine :up:

Yep, Vista runs very nicely on the MBA. But XP runs even better and uses much less HD space (HD space is of course a little tight on the Air, especially if you get the SSD like I did)
So I've reverted back to XP on this machine. I still run Vista on my desktop.
But back to the original topic, most of the people I know have had pretty good success with the Vaio's lately.
If I had to buy a Windows laptop, though, I'd probably go with Lenovo. I like that T-series.
