Best to get the latest real player and when you put your mouse over the video, a sign on the upper right of the video will say download this video. Click on that and a window of real player will open which will show you the status of downloading

You tried www.downloadyoutubevideos.com?
All you need is an FLV Player which you can download free from loads of site, just google it, and you can download anything you like
A five minute YouTube video wil be a file of about 11Mb

Salams
Here is the easiest way, well at east for me :D
First go to youtube and copy the URL of the video you would like.
then go to zamzar.com and click on URL (not file which its normally on)
Then paste your URL from youtube and for step 2 select mp3 from the list
provided. Then enter you email address and click convert.
And you will receive an email in half an hour or so.
When you receive the email, they will provide you with a link. Follow
the link and it will tell you to download.(the URL you converted)
so when its downloaded it will automatically play the song for you from
windows media player.
Then save the song onto you computer from the media player.
And then drag it into your ipod (of course after you have connected the ipod with your computer)
Hope that helps :D if not lemme know so i could simplify it.

Stay away from RealPlayer (too many possible trojans and pop-ups - well that's what I've heard).
Use this site :
http://keepvid.com/

RealPlayer is garbage. I have a plugin for Firefox called VideoDownloader, it lets you download youtube videos to .flv files. So far as viewing them, I use VLC player as my media viewer and it works just fine for .flv files as well as most any other media format out there (.mp3, .mpg, .wmv, etc).

the best thing to get is, DVD video soft, it has many applications such as, download the audio from youtube as a .mp3 and such as download videos to your ipod in its proper content such as .mp4 and so forth, and also it is free and transfers very quickly from youtube to which ever format you wish to have.

If you use firefox you can get DownloadHelper. That will allow you to download any media from any page. VideoDownloadHelper is another Firefix extension, it's not as good as DownloadHelper though.
DownloadHelper is here (http://www.downloadhelper.net/)
And VideoDownloadHelper is here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006)
