Salam,
I am considering wearing niqab.
I am 16 years old and live in the U.S. and I don't personally know anyone who wears niqab therefore I don't have anyone else to ask.
Sisters wearing niqab can you please tell me what its like wearing niqab if you don't live in a muslim country.
I am worried about getting harrassed and terroized especially in the public schools.

Jazak Allah Khair,
Salam

Umm it might be hard for you at lunch time when you're at school to eat at the school cafeteria?

It's not like it's not possible, because it is. When I was in my final year at high school there was a girl I know and she was only 14 or 15 and she wore niqaab to school and did everything, so yeah it can be done.

People might be a little intimidated and they will ask questions but if you are confident about why you are wearing it then you should be able to answer them well. It's also a good opporunity for dawah and to clear up misconceptions people usually have.

Before wearing it you should be absolutely certain because after you wear it once it's not right to keep taking it off and putting it on and stuff. It requires committment. But if you are not sure, you can try practising wearing it to the mosque or mall and stuff to see how it feels.

I guess wearing the niqaab is diffrent for everyone and its great you want to wear it, my advice would run along with gucci's, try wearing it down to the masjid or the shopping mall first, down to the local deli around the high treet with your mates just so you can get the jist of what it'll be like. After that if you think you can cope with wearing it at school and stuff go for it, if not then give it some time. I wear it in the UK not the USA and although it was weird in the begining i love wearing it whenever i can now.

Mashallah its good to see you have intention to wear it.
I would like to wear it as well.
I normally wear it when their are alot of men around like on weddings because I hate being stared at.
It tends to get hard to eat when you wear the nikab also people cant see your facial expressions like when you smile they wont be able to see it.
Also you will get the average idiot making a comment as you walk past just ignore it and dont worry may allah keep you strong in your imaan.
