I thought kids looked forward to holidays? Or did I miss something ?

If you have siblings, do something fun with them

if you're an only child, do something creative, make something or cook/bake something new, gardening? :o depends what your interest is...if you have any

Young kids nowadays don't have hobbies or interests...they usually put down 'surfin net, msn, chattin innit wid ma m8s' maybe they should add 'learning how to type properly' in there :rotfl:

erm go out with your parents/family go meet your cousins, have a friends get together/mini house party thing

there are so many things you could do.

I suggest getting a book and reading it. If you are really bored you should be able to finish a book in a day, possibly two. Just don't read A Million Little Pieces, it's not good.

yeah good advise- best book= Qur'an

especially if you've never read it in English, the holidays are fantastic oppertunity to start reading it in english, I know it helped me alot when I was younger.

If you don't wanna read the qur'an then atleast read decent a book and not non-sense novels...sorry but I hate novels, unfortunately there's nothing good to learn from them unless they're based on true stories (eg to kill a mocking bird)

There are loads of books on stories of sahaba and wisdom and knowledge in Islam. about how to better one's character etc.

I was going to suggest novels :D I love reading them, it helps work the imagination and there are a lot of good ones out there.

I follow the logic that 'imagination outside of Allahs world' is not from islam and therefore should be avoided by muslims :coolbro:

eg harry potter, lord of the rings etc all that non sense about magic and flying, it corrupts minds, in particular those of young muslim children. and unfortunately many parents are blind to it and encourage it.

There are far better books and things to be reading about, especially for younger children.

Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings isn't too bad. If you take out the magic aspect it's mainly about good vs. evil, and how love (in Harry Potter) can help. And how evil/magic can corrupt people (Gollum in Lord of the Rings)

Personally I don't mind it, if parents teach their children what is real and not real it shouldn't matter really. If it gets them to read and stimulates their mind, then it's good.

For younger children, Arabian Nights is a good one. Really good actually.

well if your family and friends haven't quenched your boredom them consider doing something alone?

Maybe you need some spiritual time, to reflect on what's been going on in your life etc Do some zikr/ibaadah. Read quran in english or learn about a new sahaba each day or something.

It's amazing how even though we have everything living in developed countries- we are still bored. Yet children in developing countries who have only 1 meal a day and sometimes no parents (orphans) will be happy and content with what they have.

Sometimes we need to take some time out away from other people, be alone, and thank Allah for what we have. reflect on what we have, not what we DONT have. Inshallah, there will be more barkah in the time we use and we will be less bored :D

Is there a reason you type like you have a speech impediment?

just say out loud those words you typed above 'haha..been der...dun dah' it sounds so retarded

Your typing reflects your intelect and speech. So you should type as you speak, inshallah. I hope you don;t have a speech impediment because it's a very unfortunate thing :( and some people do suffer from it.

Just remember, a member was banned because of horrendous typing, here's one of her threads :smack: http://www.ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77436&highlight=PaGaL%7ELaDo0

she was a lovely sister...just refused to type in an appropriate manner

Your GCSE's are important. Make sure you do enough that you pass them first time around. They are the first stepping stone to your educational career. You dont want to waste a year by resitting them again!

Mashallah, for your english oral exam grade

You should NEVER say things like 'i enjoy sounding retarded' astagfirullah, there are people out there SUFFERING from such things...and you are sat here telling us about your A* in oral english and that you enjoy sounding retarded

:nono:

You should say alhamdulillah and make every effort to use the knowledge and skills Allah has given you, to reflect the best of your character. In reality we are unable to stop and think about what we say or press the back button and re-say our words.

Online we can edit mistakes, think how we put forward out posts...so we should do this carefully in an appropriate and respectable manner. I can't imagine the prophet (saw)'s wives or daughters making an effort to type incorrectly

I have holidays - and yes I'm bored. Though I shouldnt be, I should be busy doing some work...

Whenever its term time all I want to do is have a bit of free time to do what I want, so I long for the holidays to come - and then when they do I dont feel like doing any of the things I planned - but I do feel like doing work :smack:

If anyone is really bored you're welcome to come help me revise...9 pages about image intensifiers is the joy I have to look forward to next
