~ In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent the Most Merciful ~
"And to Allah :Swt: belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allah :Swt: is over all things competent. Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding-Who remember Allah :Swt: while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire." Surah 3: Ayahs 189-191
Do you listen to soothing sounds…this isn’t a Nasheed group :p
A lot of people listen to ‘soothing sounds’ such as rainfall, amazon rainforest noises or sounds of the ocean and :sub: it really is nice and relaxing. Some people have even compiled CD’s of the stuff – natural sounds of nature.
Do you have a personal favourite sound that soothes you?
For me I love the sound, feel, and mood of rain- any sort of rain i love walking on a rainy day it helps me think and relaxes me because I can gather my thoughts and contemplate.

Another smashing poll lol subhanallah. I love the sound the flow of water makes if you go to a running stream when water is rushing. I like that. I love the rain too.

There is one kind of bird that makes one particular noise for 2 hours. Like 6 to 8 or something. The bird used to stay on top of the well where Yusuf a.s was thrown in. The bird used to say 'Yusuf is here' 'Yusuf is here' and you could barely make out the word yusuf. anybody heard of that?
The deep rumble of the ocean...and the pitter patter of rain! Two heavenly sounds...
Chris Watson's (www.chriswatson.net) records are really good! Especially his Pacific one.

Gently close your ears and hear the sound. I love that too. Thats the sound of the rivers in Jannah.
i love the sound of the ocean roaring at night, and birds singing in the mornings as dawn breaks, and before mahgrib, huge flocks of starlings go over head at certain times of the year, love the rustle of the trees in the wind, the wind howling, the sound heavy rain on the roof alhamdulillah can hear all this from my home so no need for tapes, i also love all the cute little noises my cats and birds make when they "talk" to each other, and the sound a baby makes when it drinks its milk  alhamdulillah

lool - would that be just before the cat pounces? Honourable creatures...giving a warning.
Btw - out of curiosity, if anybody's got time, could they listen to the attached file (only the first few seconds) and post up what the first thing that came into your mind was - as in what you thought the recording was of? :)

Is it the sound of the shower running? :D
For me it sounded like standing on a train platform waiting for the train :)

Birds.
Walking through a park or somewhere and listening to them sing............ahhhhhhh it makes me want to kick off my shoes, lay back on the grass and close my eyes............but then you realise its in the middle of winter and you've got a muddy back now!! lol
Seriously though.................birds :)

Heh, deliberate misnaming to give people ideas...nope it wasn't. You hear that sound waiting for the train
It's quite cool, that sound modulated a leedly bit sounds like the ocean, twiddled a bit more sounds like a sea shell close to your ear, and a leedle bit more and it sounds like a train wishing past.
I think it's quite magical, and it's generated using a very simple 'mathematical' formula...
Sorry, :) I know I shouldn't bring maths into an arty thread, but couldn't resist...

sounds to me like a roaring furnace, like at a steel works or something, or static :D and it sounds quite a bit like the background noise of the ringing in my ears from tinitus.

oh wow, never made that connection, but it makes sense, the same science behind that too... sounds different to everybody!

that would scare me half to death! I would probably end up screaming and scare the poor birdy away :(
The best nature sound is lying in the cool grass in a summer rain and listening to the rain tickle the long grass. And then there is the lovely smell....
:0: why not ..
'cos it was :D
Well, sort of, most of these nature sounds (ocean, sea, wind) are very like static... can boil them down to one of white/pink/brown noise - and there are very clear ways of generating these.
