View Full Version : Who works out more? (brothers or sisters?)
Assalamu alaikum!
I am a brother from the US, just thought this forum is a really cool place :)
I LOVE ISLAM, and am interested in fitness, computers, and just chilling with other Muslims :)
So here is a question ... Who do you think exercises more? Muslim brothers or sisters?
I try to work out several times a week, but I have sisters and they'll just go on for periods of time where they are lazy then suddenly start running or exercising alot.
Do you think brothers and sisters exercise for different reasons?

I used to work out a lot, but now the only working out I do is for basketball practice thrice a week
I mean like some brothers will go weightlift for hours, just to grow bigger muscles, but I don't think sisters do that , right?
most of us here are from the UK, i think we probably work out less than the Americans, possibly because we aint so fat??

So are lifestyles so different in the UK from the US, that people don't need to exercise?
This is news to me!

^^ fully understood, and I know it keeps you more refreshed. But I mean you have bills coming in, you got tons of crap to sort out, the last thing you think of is exercise, for me it's right lets get to work, need to get the cash in, do all nighters and that. So you're too nackered mentally for the exercise. I'm talking about focused so much that you forget to eat meals. (altho now am not stressed so will be going again next week)
One amazing thing about exercising for even 15 minutes is that it gets your blood going.
You could be feeling all sluggish and lazy even though you got a ton of things to do.
But alhamdulillah, once you go for a quick exercise, the blood gets moving again throughout your body.
If you do it right, you can actually leave your exercise fully energized and NOT exhausted at all!
Kind of like walking to the masjid when you wake up for Fajr... at first you are really groggy, but when you walk to the masjid, your blood gets moving and you can be more focused in Salah (instead of being half a sleep).

your class mates wont get bigger muscles if they do that, they'll just damage them. Rest and protein intake is VERY important for muscle building.
I use to work out late at night (12 am to 2 am). Originally that time was the best for as I'm more of a night person. Later on, I started doing the exercises just so that I could read tahajud salaah. It's the best feeling ever- after you exercise, you have endorphins rushing to your head making you feel happy and content. Then you go do wudu, and make the best salaah for your life.

From my experience, you find sisters doing more cardio vascular stuff such as jogging than men.
Brothers are usually found in gyms trying to get that six packs.:D
Sisters you find in gyms are usually there to contemplate the boys working out and hopping someone will get their number:rolleyes: and asking questions such as : can you help me with this, how to that, advice and stuff..

Hope that is not on a general note.
Many sisters do concentrate on being fit (soley) not to catch another guys glances or pecs.

I cannot speak for the sisters, but this brother works out. Maybe not as much as I should, but I do exercise a few times a week. With the snow finally gone I will be out on my mtn. bike a lot more, so that is a good thing.

i think both male & females work out to look and feel good about them selves.
i spend alot of time working because its makes me feel good and when allah blesses me w/ a wife, she'll be please but for the most part my training is for allah. so when i need to use my skills and strength i'm good to go insha allah.
personally all muslims male and female should exercise, heck praying 5x a day is a workout.

What they want to do is, do about 10-15 reps of 1 set at the most they can push.
do a full circuit, and running before the workout just for a few minutes to warm up. After that have a protein shake and do this 3 times a week so get a days rest between.
They will see the results really quickly.

mashaAllah, welcome to the forum akhi!
guys probably out weigh the number of girls that do any training.
most guys are into weights, but a growing number are pushing towards a skill set like boxing, bjj, mma etc.

I work very physical jobs as a rule so I would have to say no, I don't officially work out but my workday consists of doing physical activies that most people aren't strong enough to do at the level that I do so I guess I get an 8 hour workout everyday :D
