Oh those look so good! I've never heard of being able to buy sushi grade fish at a local supermarket. Raw fish; yummy! Toro! It makes eating cooked fish seem pointless.

Sushi is cool, Wasabi is not!!
Get yourself started on say, supermarket sushi where the fish is like, prawn or tuna - then you can go to Yo Sushi and try the real stuff! :p
And man Sushi is very good for you, the Japanese sure do know how to live long Masha'allah.

I tried sushi for the first time in Cape Town. They had like 50 different kinds. This supermarket stuff doesn't taste the same, but its still deliciously delectible.

Oh you should try 'Masgouf'. Very popular Iraqi dish, cut open fish cooked with citrus, vegetables, nuts and sometimes rice/raisins stuffed inside, very good, my mum sometimes makes it with trout.

never had it, dont have anywhere that sells sushi here so i dunno if i like it.
but what i wanna know is... how come people dont get sick from eating raw fish and meat ? u know like shushi, steak tartar ( minced beef or horse meat and seasoning mashed up and served raw ) etc. cos u have to wash ur hands and untensils and worktops , after handling raw fish and meat because of the germs , so how come ppl eat it like that ?

Steak tartar is risky if you ask me, and although I like my steaks medium rare, raw ground beef is pushing it.
As for sushi, here's what I found. There are no clear standards as to what makes fish 'sushi grade' or 'sashimi grade' and no definition of the term. The only concern FDA inspectors have is referred to as the "parasite destruction guarantee", which is accomplished by 'freezing and storing seafood at -4°F (-20°C) or below for 7 days (total time), or freezing at -31°F (-35°C) or below until solid and storing at -31°F (-35°C) or below for 15 hours, or freezing at -31°F (-35°C) or below until solid and storing at -4°F (-20°C) or below for 24 hours' which is sufficient to kill parasites. The FDA's Food Code recommends these freezing conditions to retailers who provide fish intended for raw consumption.
Also, raw fish used for sushi is usually fresher, and so is exposed to the environment for a significantly less period of time, resulting in lower levels of bacteria present on the meat.

An old online-gaming team mate of mine is stationed in Guam, you don't happen to know him do you?
but what i wanna know is... how come people dont get sick from eating raw fish and meat ?
The wasabi kills the germs in your stomach which is why it's eaten immedietly after having sushi.
