Salam `Alaykum,
I collected that list of books for the perfect "Sufi Library" in your home. I would also like to add that all ove the above except (1/2 of 5, 9, 14) have been translated. The GHF is translating the other half of (5) and Imam Zaid Shakir is soon to release (14) in English so the only thing you are really missing (soon anyways) is (9) which is totally untranslated.

The best Sufi books concerned with sulook, which I've heard from different Shaykhs such as Shaykh Nuh Keller, Habib Ali, and others:
-Ihya'a Uloom Ad-din
-Risala Qushayria
-all of Imam Haddad's books
-Al-Burhan Al-Mo'yayyad by Imam Ahmad Rifa'i
-Hikam Al-Ata'aiyyah
-M'iraj At-Tashawwuf by Imam Ibn Ajiba
-Qawa'ed At-Tasawwuf by Imam Zarruq
-Mathnawi
best dhawqi (experiential) tasawwuf books:
-Futoohat Al-Makkiyya (only with a Shaykh cuz u wont understand it! Shaykh Al-Akbars Arabic is very sophisticated, and u have to be familiar with his ontology)
-Al-Ibreez min Kalam Sidi Abdul Aziz, written in question/answer format, where Shaykh Abdul Aziz Ad-Dabbagh answers the questions of one oh his mureeds
-Any Sharh of "Salatul Mashishiyyah"
-Imam Abdul Kareem Jili's books

And Joha being a "salafi" doesn't necesarilly mean you're in a new group, rather you're on a path and that is the path the beloved Prophet [sallallaahu alayhi was-salaam] was on: "So I order you to stick to my Sunnah and the way of the rightly guided successors [i.e. the salaaf] after me. Bite on to that with your molar teeth and beware of the newly invented matters, for verily every innovation is guidance." [Reported by Abu Dawood, Kitaab us-Sunnah hadeeth no. 4607 5/13]
Hope that clarifies things for you.

Heh, thanks. I was actually taking a dig at salahuldin...His is the new 'group'.
But regardless, I mean, the concept of a 'sufi' library is quite a funny one, but, much as I disagree in most things with people like salahuldin, I have no qualms about reading their books, or keeping them in my library.
It's always interesting to see exactly how complicated people have made the simple and straightforward teachings of our Prophet (saw).
Put it this way - what could be more simple than worshipping as the Prophet (saw) did, but people always make their own way up, assuming that it is better than what the best of man did.

salafi's are the minority
The holy Prophet(Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said "Without doubt my Ummah will never be gathered in misguidance. Whenever you see disagreement, then hold fast to the Sawad-e-Azam (the great majority)" [Ibne Majah]
The holy Prophet(Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said " Follow the way of the largest group of Muslims! For, he who deviates from this group will be thrown into Hell!" [Ibne Majah]
The holy Prophet(Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said "The devil continually pursues humans as a wolf pursues sheep. The wolf only dares to attack those sheep which have separated from the rest of the flock and are standing alone. And so, my followers and my devotees! Save yourselves from being caught in the traps of misguidance and firmly remain with the largest and most well known group of Muslims!" [ Imam Ahmed]
The holy Prophet(Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said " Allah will never allow my Ummah to unite upon misguidance and incorrect beliefs. Allah's mercy, blessings and protection are with the largest group of Muslims. And he who deviates from this largest group of Muslims will be thrown into Hell." [ Tirmizi]
The holy Prophet(Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said " He who deviates from the largest group of Muslims, even as much as a hand span, has himself cut off his connection with Islam." [Abu Daud, Imam Ahmed]

bro i just wanted to know wht you mean by the newly invented khalafi Islam. As in what aspects of islam have these so called "khalafis" invented?
Simple , Can you show me from the Prophet PBUH and the sahaaba and the Salaf where they preached 3 Tawheeds ? Categorized .
Tajseem is another word that pops up . Harsh and Hard hardheartedness spread across the ummah , Holier than thou attitudes and Takabur are widespread , Talfeeq is widespread cause they believe you should not follow a single Madhab even though every scholar in islam did . they drifted Away from the prophets Household r.a. and make sunnis who love and respect them like shia , They made Saheeh Hadeeth dhaeef and hey think everything that was not part of the First century Hijrah as Bida.
But they are muslims like other muslims who strive to Implement Allah SWT laws , who try to stay away from what he SWT prohibited . but their extreme stance on many issues has repelled many muslims away from them .
No muslim sect is perfect Keep that in mind , Sufis , Salafis , Ddeobandis , Barelwis whatever man made name u can think of .

Dont get me wrong im not salafi, but when i asked sheikh the question about the 3 tawheeds, he said its just easier for people to understand, as in its nothing new to the religion, but something which has made it easy for people to understand the tawheed.

Why do we let people ruin our threads! Aboo Sait shoul dbe ignored he does this everytime may Allah guide him and us. Not only does he insult what he does not know anything about he can be rather disrespectful and may Allah rid us all of ARROGANCE. As for my wonderful brother Saudi Prince who has great posts I have to critique you here...
Did anyone ask you if you read Sufi books or not?
Actually many of the books on the list contain obligatory knowledge.
Books that focus on getting rid of the haram on one' TONGUE for example is from the Quran and Sunnah and how many times WE ALL fall into this. Traits such as not ALWAYS trying to prove one's point!!! Arguments are disliked for the Sunnah just read the hadith!

No need to call Salah al-Deen a Sufi. In our age many people call themselves Sufi and it gives the word a bad name for the ignorant. Rather we can say that Salah- al-deen followed what many people of Ihsan of Sufism have focused on which is following the Sunnah in word, actions and hal -state.

What is hal - state?
State? In Arabic we say Kaifa Haluk? How is your state of being?
An Example would be the fact that Ali did not kill the man who spit on him while fighting because he realized his killing him would not be for the sake of Allah. This was a state of being conscious of Allah and guarding his intention.
A state would be when you know the Sunnah is to sit and drink but you are rushing out the house and no one is watching and you forbid yourself to wlak and drink.
Hope this was clear.

If anyone, brelawis are the minority, and the most recent of the Bid'ahs.
and if you like we can have a vote for that too... you'll be the only one voting for that Brelawi team, and that my brother is what you call minority.
there is a world out of this forum my friend and i am talking about the world and to get your fact's s straight if you look at the u.k you will find that most of the masjid's in the u.k are brelawi or doebandi's and that is a fact look it up if you have time.
when i mean most im talking about from 150 to 350 masjid's are brelawi's
and the same can go for the doebandi's.
you can have your vote's on this forum because most are young student's who have no time to study islam because they are up to their neck's in coursework and exam's, so that mean's most of them dont know jack about islam.
and the second thing is i never mentioned anything about brevli's being the bigger group i said people who follow the four school's of thought are the bigger group e.g brevli's,doebandi's,tabligee.jammah.
and everyone know's that salafi's are the smaller group across the globe subhan allah they will alway's be the smaller group by the grace of allah.
plus dont say salafi follow the four school of thought because they dont have a madhab.
p.s dont try to bully me, because i dont like bullie's. :coolbro:

Yep! It's silly to argue and it's rather silly to judge an entire group based on the actions of some of its members in a certain location and age. The barelwis (spelling?) have had excellent Ulema, the deobandis, the tabligh the who, whatever! The Salafis, the sufis, the who whatever!
If we see a Muslim drinking should a kafir say that;s what Islam is like. If we see a Muslim with bad akhlaq with sadly ebnough has become a norm don't we tell the kuffar that Islam is not judged by the actions of some Muslims who seem not to fully understand the deen. Like we see a father FORCE his daughter into marriage with an irreligious fool but he prays 200 rakas a day? Is this Islam or we say no Islam is pure. So just relax, focus on own's own meeting of Allah and spread love to all Muslims. If your brother is sick shall we not visit them, if poor feed him/her? If sad cheer him/her up? Break bread with one another, give gifts, love each other and unite this Ummah. Allah will make clear to all of us what is right and wrong in such a confusing age. I have my own teachers and following but I think if everyone who ascribed to any group should all consider taking from Habib Umar in Yemen as I think his way can bridge the gaps to all this sectarianism that ails us. At any rate the Mahdi will make it clear as well. So in the meantime let us not use titles such as Sufi Library it already provokes fitna. Why not say: "Books to purify the heart, tongue, body and soul" And use those that are most general . Like kashf al-majhjoob has very good treatises and how the early Muslims looked at this world. The Ihya, etc.
