How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

Should your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones yadda yadda

They can still take the phone to another country, unblock/unlock it and they have a perfectly working phone.

the first one i don't remember whether it was stolen or i forgot it some where.

the second one was stolen by ladies customers (:55:), they were 3 in numbers. i was alone in the shop that time, 2 of them got me busy in askin rates & inquiring abt the products and the 3rd stole it from my counter.......

the third one ~ on the night when Benazir was assasinated, all of a sudden riots started and we had to close shop in a hurry. i forgot my mobile inside the shop, after 2 days when the markets reopened my mobile was no where to be found in the shop. Obviously one of the employees stole it, there r 60+ employees, who to blame!

Yeah, and trust me, people would never come and ask for ur phone if theyre alone...they're always in a gang...so generally ur always outnumbered, and ur knife wouldnt help u whether ur male or female.

I havnt had my phone stolen thankfully but I have had my purse stolen. It was really horrible because it had nearly all the money I'd earnt that week in it :(

Advice for all - when you go to the supermarket do not put your handbag in the trolley where the baby seat is - a couple of years ago my mum had her handbag stolen when she was in tescos, she'd put it there and just turned away for a second and it was gone.

yep bags is another problem esp. in london at rush hours...
most of them are professionals and just wait until they see a chance,
they literally slit part of the bag in one go (usually the handle) with a knife and walk away with your stuff...
