Which version of the Flash do you use? The official proprietary version or the more buggy open source version?

it's nice but the display driver I'm using is messed up and everything freezes for about 12 seconds randomly (about once every 3-5 mins). You can't play games in Linux either (don't even mention Wine or junk like Tux Racing...), so I hardly ever use it now.

when I destroyed my MBR on my desktop and did not know of any way to fix it, I installed Linux for the first time (Ubuntu) and I reallly liked it. I used Windows then only when necessary but soon I found Ubuntu and Linux in general to be too much of a hedache. Ubuntu is supposed to be the most newbie friendly distro out there but you end up having to do sooo much technical stuff. They say Windows is unstable but I had XP for 3 years and not once did I ever have a single problem with it. With Ubuntu I frequently encountered bugs of which some there were no solutions for. The ones that did have solutions required that you go through hell to fix them.

and then when I got my laptop, the Ubuntu live cd wouldn't even boot up (it froze), even though apparently it worked fine with previous versions. Eventually I installed it using the alternate cd and even then I had to go and hunt for drivers to get everything to work.

overall, my experience with Ubuntu has been extremely annoying, but :alhumdull it was a good learning experience. To have a good experience with Ubuntu you need to make sure that you have the perfecty compatible hardware. Even when things are working perfectly fine though you get a bunch of new bugs after you update something.

they advertise it as "Linux for Human beings" but it isn't actually for everyone. If you just gave it to someone with basic computer skills, they wouldn't get very far. If you are willing to learn and have never tried Linux before, then Ubuntu is for you.

the only reason I'm keeping it on my laptop is so that I can test some of my programs. I wouldn't say I hate it nor would I say I like it.

Wait for the new Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS being released in 9 days. All LTS versions are stable, versions which are not LTS are experimental bleeding edge versions which should not be used by the average user hoping for a hassle-free experience.
