How to Love an ISTJ

Appreciate my common sense, practical, and steady approach to life.
Respect my need for routine and order; avoid sudden changes.
Listen attentively and respectfully.
Try to be calm, honest and specific when discussing problems.
Give me plenty of time to think things through before discussing them.
Above all - Notice and acknowledge my hard work and commitment to our family's needs. They are quiet, serious, and careful but typically are reluctant to initiate social interaction. While they are organized, determined, and methodical, they can also be single-minded, super cautious and a bit rigid.
What works with ISTJs:
give them plenty of time to adjust to new things and keep routines in place as much as possible
be clear and explicit in your directions and requests; say what you mean, and mean what you say
don't rush them from one activity to another; respect their slower transition pace

oh my days this is really true
As do other Introverted Thinkers, ISTJs often give the initial impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold. Effusive expression of emotional warmth is not something that ISTJs do without considerable energy loss.
ISTJs are most at home with "just the facts, Ma'am." They seem to perform at highest efficiency when employing a step-by-step approach. Once a new procedure has proven itself (i.e., has been shown "to work,") the ISTJ can be depended upon to carry it through, even at the expense of their own health.

that would call for disaster...if you have the same personality..you will clash and usually one type of personality compliments or scaffolds the other. If you have the same personalities..you will share the same insecurities or same strengths and weaknesses..you will find it difficult to aid each other...

I'm really suprised how accurate this is, is there a scientific basis for this?

Well yeh they are accurate somewhat, because it is based on the answers you give. For example, are you more of a feeling person or more of a thinking one (e.g. some people prefer logic over how they feel and vice versa). Or do you like to have a small number of close of friends, or do you like meeting people and making lots of friends (extrovert, introvert).

Sensing (S) 68% Intuitive (N) 32%
Thinking (T) 55% Feeling (F) 45%

Man this thing is accurate!

ESTPs generally have the following traits:

* Action-oriented
* Live in the present moment
* Dislike abstract theory without practical application
* Like to see immediate results for their efforts
* Fast-paced and energetic
* Flexible and adaptable
* Resourceful
* Seldom work from a plan - make things up as they go
* Fun to be around hehe people say that haha
* Highly observant
* Excellent memory for details
* Excellent people skills
* Good-natured
* Excellent ability to see an immediate problem and quickly devise a solution
* Attracted to adventure and risk
* May be flashy or showy nooooo
* Like initiating things - not necessarily following them through to completion

ESTPs have some advantageous traits which are unique to their personality type. Their skills of observation make them extremely good at correctly analyzing and assessing other peoples' motives or perspectives. Their people skills allow them to use this knowledge to their advantage while interacting with people. For this reason, ESTPs are excellent salespeople. They also have a special ability to react quickly and effectively to an immediate need, such as in an emergency or crisis situation. This is a valuable skill in many different professions, perhaps most notably in action-oriented professions, such as police work. ESTPs enjoy new experiences and dealing with people, and dislike being confined in structured or regimented environments. They also want to see an immediate result for their actions, and don't like dealing with a lot of high-level theory where that won't be the case. For these reasons, they should choose careers which involve a lot of interaction with people, and do not require performing a lot of routine, detailed tasks.

The following list of professions is built on our impressions of careers which would be especially suitable for an ESTP. It is meant to be a starting place, rather than an exhaustive list. There are no guarantees that any or all of the careers listed here would be appropriate for you, or that your best career match is among those listed.

Possible Career Paths for the ESTP:

* Sales Representatives
* Marketing Personnel
* Police / Detective Work
* Paramedic / Emergency Medical Technician
* PC Technicians or Network Cablers
* Computer Technical Support
* Entrepreneurs

ISTP

Quiet and reserved, interested in how and why things work. Excellent skills with mechanical things. Risk-takers who they live for the moment. Usually interested in and talented at extreme sports. Uncomplicated in their desires. Loyal to their peers and to their internal value systems, but not overly concerned with respecting laws and rules if they get in the way of getting something done. Detached and analytical, they excel at finding solutions to practical problems.

We had to do this at university - I felt sorry for the lady who was supposed to make us do it - imagine trying to convince as sceptical and cynical a bunch you can get at a university (we were all scientists in... ahem... a very pure science - the science of sciences :p) to do something so wishy washy and full of psychobabble.

By the time the sarcastic comments had finished, she was absolutely shattered.

Science can't explain everything :p You can't measure a personality in a lab like you can the level of toxicity. But tests like this can give us a fair insight into things and the way we are. It's not necessarily COMPLETELY accurate though, due to too many variables being present.
