Simple question really.
(I've checked it as anonymous)
I might watch clips of a show on youtube or something, but I don't watch TV at all.

very rarely these days, i find the media full of subliminal messaging and brainwashing tactics...best to stay away....
but then again...the net is a form of media...

May i ask why? Ok, i've heard TV is haraam, BUT why do people still keep watching it then? I once recall something my Maulana said, in that we are not allowed to watch the moving images on a television screen. So there's me thinking that this means cartoons cannot be watched. Right? So why do some Maulana's then go on to say that it is ok to watch some parts of tv e.g. BBC news?
Please don't slag me off. I want to learn what the hadeeth says about this. It would be nice to hear some clear and valid responses. ;)
May i ask why?
I don't have a television. Besides, I find TV to be pretty stale these days.

T.V is not any different than Internet. There are good and bad things, and in the case of Internet there are more of both than in T.V. You gotta love it when people on the INTERNET say that T.V is haram and wrong because of the filthy content in it. People will always have both in their homes but it is up to Muslims to use it for good reasons and for others to make halal alternatives available for them.

that's a cop out. You can control to a much better extent what u see on the internet, but not to that extent with the tv.

Don't watch tv, don't have one either. Alhamdulillah.
Parents didn't like life without tv initially, but now they are glad as well.

the moving images thing is a dif of opinion, but its based on that its still an image... so those are the main ones in saying tv as a whole will be haram.
otherwise ppl say some of the content can be haram but not the device itself and depends what u watch
but yeh i watch it, i just chose progs which i think are alright

I enjoy the occasional documentary or nature program, but apart from that, I'd rather not allow my brain to be sucked dry by the endless stream of intellectually-neutered trash that passes for entertainment on the Idiot Box, these days.
Rupert Murdoch has a lot to answer for.

Speaking of intellectually-neutered trash, you should try Hindi drama serials.

Hardly ever.. more or less never now..
there was a time where I used to be a download fanatic and i used to watch everything, 24, lost, prison break, you name it..
but now i really couldnt care less.. just cannot be bothered, got so much better things to do,
I dont even watch normal tv, hardly..
i only watch it if im in the living room and bro is watching a cartoon
if i do ever watch tv its normally islam channel which gets boring half the time,
or nickelodeon juniour..
you want to know why....
even though iv seen them all.....
AVATAR THE LAST AIR BENDER
IS THE BEST
IT ROCKS MY SOCKS..
YOU AL HAVE TO AGREE
you know its wicked....
and then once every few weeks if im really bored extreme makeover home edition.. i like that alot, cos im that type of person, manual labour, product design, design and technology, all the mini projects they do.. learning new stuffs and tricks, interior design..
but otherwise apart from those two, i would say no i dont watch tv..... not anymore..

Yea sometimes I will be watching the news and something boring will come on so I get itchy fingers and change channels and end up watching some poor comedy or something with half naked women on the screen :(
:torture: I must stop that!

Nope, never owned one except briefly for a couple years but now I've got my Sopcast to give me live football matches over the internet so I don't need one.
assalam...nope,not at all...even in lots of Islamic ones(as they claim)there are so much mahram views and advertisements, proggrams etc....the eye watch and the heart overcastes and darkens day by day...so,how can we feel for instance in pray(salah) in the peace(hudhuur and hushuu)...wassalam...
