Book Launch: The Angel of Grozny
Conversation with Asne Seierstad and Tony Wood
Event details: 7:15pm, 3 March 2008. Institute of Contemporary Arts, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, SW1Y 5AH
Anne Seierstad, author of The Bookseller of Kabul, will be talking about her new book The Angel of Grozny.
A decade after she began her career as a foreign correspondent, Asne Seierstad returned to Chechnya and discovered that while the rest of the world had moved on, the tragedy continued leaving a brutalised society - with a particular toll on its children - in its wake. She comes to the ICA to talk about the human dimension of the Chechen fighting, its history causes and possible solutions.
After a short talk, she will be in conversation with Tony Wood, deputy editor at New Left Review and author of Chechnya The Case for Independence.
