Salamun 'alayik
Brothers who attended the event say it was a total chaos, with Shaykh Riyad's time slot being covered by an auction in which dirty jokes (which were not even Islamic) were being said in the presence of the blessed Shaykh!! Where have Muslims come to!! The Shaykh had to wait an hour sitting down looking at an Auction taking place in his time slot!! Whats even worse, when the Shaykh would make mention of our Nabi's name (PBUH) people would not even move their lips in utterance of the Nabi's (PBUH) salutations!
Next time any ISOC who wish to invite a Shaykh of this calibre, remember he (the Shaykh) has more priority than your whole event combined! It doesn't matter whether this is the first time or not, there is an 'Adab when it comes to dealing with Scholars, and unfortanately Muslims have lost this 'Adab. I sincerely advise the brother who organised this event to go and do Tawba and seek forgiveness from the Shaykh - personally.
A good book which covers 'Adab which I would reccomend is al Bidaya wal Hidaya - The Begining of Guidance by Hujjatul Islam al-Imam Abu Hamid al Ghazzali (Rahimahullah)

Walaikum salam,
If people listened to the first talk they would have remembered what Ustadh Murtaza Khan said in regards to elevating scholars/imams/those whom are learned.
Just out of curousity, what is an 'Islamic' joke?
Perhaps they sent salutations in but did not do so verbally.
Do you not think that it would be better to discuss such matters with the brothers/sisters whom organised the event rather than here on a pulic forum?
