Depends on the quality of the tap water.

The water in our house near the city is very hard and has a smell of chlorine to it. Which is typical for large municipal water systems. I'll use it to boil pasta, but not for rice or curries.

The water here, on the other hand, is relatively soft and has no odor at all. So I have no problem drinking it and using it for cooking.

UK tap water is fine, I find it funny that international students don't trust the water here and boil it before they drink it! Just like I do when I go abroad!

Well, that's true is most places, isn't it?

Here in the US we don't have separate water supplies into our homes for potable water. All of the water coming in from the main supply is supposed to be potable. And some of that water is used to fill the toilets.

China is the only place I've seen separate supplies and taps for potable water.

I don't drink it (because I don't trust it in general and when I HAD TO it tasted like clorine) but I do use it to cook (it boils so it should be ok...):)

Rochdale Tap water is straight out of the reservoirs on the lancashire pennines, I have seen motor meachanics top up car batteries with it, its as good as distilled water.

back here in SA, its tap water all the way.

Only at work, daytime tap water is too hot, most of the time we end up buying mineral water.

Else if its a cool day, nothing like a cool sip from the tap while making wudhu

I don't drink it. I use water filter. Its the only water i'll drink. My brother drinks both tap/filtered water...i'll only use Filtered for drinking and cooking.

er.. to people who are saying that it is same as the one in your toilet:

do you know even the clean water (i expect you buy bottled water) is not clean? The earth has been in use for over God knows how many centuries.. and do you think we get new water? No because technically speaking that same water is recycled through the earth over and over again.

Now in UK atleast where i live (london) it was stated in year 1999 that tap water contains just 8% recycled water and is safer than bottled water as it goes through so many filter systems (much more than your bottled water)

yeah its cold these days i feel cold wearing sweatshirts :(

i find the tap water here to be just fine, also at my old house and the other houses before in different parts of the city we never had problems with water alhamdulillah.

i know some towns in canada especially to the north have some water consumptions problems especially near the native reserves...

yes ours is too. We do everything with it.

filtered water is for sheltered people. :D

bottled water here is a waste imo ... an absolute waste.
