I sometimes stutter when I'm really exited and want to get something out.

Then if I'm nervous I talk too fast and have to repeat myself, which adds to the awkwardness. :o

My dad stuttered and that passed on to me. I used to stutter a lot when i was a kid and my school friends and other people used to joke and laugh about it. I used to hate it.
At present, when i talk to my family im ok cuz i feel safe and confident. The only time when i stutter is when talking to a stranger or when im nervous. I lack confidence. How do you boost it anyway?

one of the decriptions of the Mehdi, is that he will have a stutter..:inlove:

and, i dunno why, but, i ve always thought of people with a stutter as shy, humble people

as a muslim, i think its a nice trait to have

we have an Imaam that stutters sometimes, i think its because he is so passionate about what he is speaking about.

Hello,

I just registered to this site, when I saw this thread - as I have a problem with stuttering.

I'm 14 years old right now, and have had a stuttering problem as long as I can remember.

It was very bad (was stuttering in every sentence) a few years back, but now it is much better. I still stutter severely while speaking Urdu, but not that much speaking English. English is my main language, since I'm in an American school. Also - I do know proper and fully Urdu, as well as English. I stutter in English as well, just not as bad as in Urdu.

I have many 'fear words' which I simply cannot say without stuttering. The main one is MY FULL NAME. I cannot say my full name properly without stuttering most of the time - and this is very annoying at times. I usually know what I won't be able to say without stuttering before I say it, so I usually find a different word with the same meaning while I'm speaking when I come across a 'fear word'. I can say things to myself 100% fine, with no issues what-so-ever.

Just today, I came across this (http://www.islamweb.net/ver2/eistisharat/details2.php?id=16228) site - it says to recite
--
"O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness). And ease my task for me; and make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, that they may understand my speech."
--
frequently. This is what Prophet Musa said to Allah. The website says that if you recite this, it will help you with your stuttering.

I was just wondering if there is any other cure you guys know of? As I want to get cured of this defect as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Thank god, I don't stutter.
One of my friend had a severe problem of stammering.
Her stammering increased while giving presentation or Vivas.
But, slowly she is improving after speech therapy. Now she stammers only at the start, and then goes on. Still she stammers in interviews etc. But, surely she will improve. It is definitely curable.

There was a programme on Channel 5 about some guy who had a really really bad stammer, but the amazing thing was that whenever he spoke to his baby daughter he didnt stammer at all, completely flawless. In ANY other situation, his stammer was terrible, but subhanALLAH he was completely normal wen talking to his kid. :D
