Today I was coming home from uni on the tube, and as per usual the tube was packed out!! I got on, and as im quite short I always get pushed and shoved around!!:embar: No1 really cares who there touching or getting too close to!! As I was standing in the middle next to the poll, trying to hold on for dear life!! a FULL grown man fell on me!! yes fell on me!! I was like:eek:
I know it wasnt his fault and it was an accident, of course he oplogised but I jus felt so uncomfortable:nervous:!! The thought of a non-mahrem touching me!!!:vomit: I usually dont get on the tube when its full, but I was running late and had to get home asap!!

Anyone had any bad experience's on the tube?? does anyone have any alternatives to avoid these kind of situations occuring??

If you live in a big city such as London, what are your choices, really? Driving is expensive and impossible. Living close to where you work or study is difficult if not impossible to arrange.

I'd suggest biking, but I've known too many people who were severely injured while biking around big cities.

Your only solution may be to move to a smaller city where commuting isn't such a nightmare.

ibn sina its the underground train

sis i hate tube in rush hours aswell. when its in the middle of the day n u can sit its not so bad, but i take bus instead normally. even that its packed out and some ppl are so rude :( like they wont even move a tiny bit to enable u to get out the bus easily in ur stop, rather they have to park a big suitcase infront and then someone else has to keep his huge body right in the way  and when the bus comes in the stop and its busy ppl try to push past you to try to get on first. soo annoying.

chrostophoibic

you mean claustrophobic.

it cant be that bad cos real claustrophibiacs flip out and behave oddly in small spaces.....

much like arachnophobics who flip out wen they see a small spider.

Tubes are horrid esp when they're packed, so are buses and trains- I just dont go into central London unless absolutely necessary. I dont know how people travel like that every day! I actually dont want to go to a uni in London next year because I will have to take public transport everyday...we shall see what happens.

lol!!!!!!!!!

the tube= london slang for underground trains, aka subway or Metro!

and yes packed trains are a pain in the butt, but the options are limited, either you bag yourself a seat or find a corner and hide! as the cabs are way too expencive and the bus is just as packed.:(

I also hate the tube...But I have to use it because the traffic is terrible and if you get in a car it'll take you 2 hours to get to the destination...in comparison - 40 min by the tube..

Theres a very simply way of not having to deal witht he vile tube, don't live in London!

When i visit the capital I am always shocked at how rude people are there. If I am pushed up to close to someone that it is uncomfortably close - I always apologise - and then they give me a rude blank look like I'm doing something out of place.

The 'provincial' way of life is so much more pleasant.:)

why is it whenever a muslims complains about something in the UK or a service , they are told by "british" to bog off home, even if the muslim is brought up in the UK?!

I mean people hav a right to complain about something wherever they live, imagine a white dude saying he hates the govt or schools here and i a muslim say well bog off out of here then, u can imagine the uproar that would cause :

"Muslim Tells BRITISH man to leave the UK"

omg,how could she!

im not singling u out specifically but its the general absurd , ignorant, prejudiced attitude from alot of people, i have noticed.

yeh i get what ur saying, some are able to do that, i.e. work in London but live just outside it, but u still have to DRIVE into London and if you havent got a car, u would still end up using Public transport to get in- including the tube itself.!

I hate the tube and the bus at rush hours. One day I was standing and one guy in front of me was talking to the guy behind me AND I'm not that tall AND could not move (I could only turn around, which did not help, cuz the other stood behind me). So I had to hold my breath the whole trip since they were breathing out in my face. That was so grosssssss!!!!

Another day there was this guy with a huge bagpack and I could not stand straight...really annoying and I felt pain in my legs as soon as I could move.

Serve you right, next time you might even stand up voluntarily for an old man :p - nothing's wrong with them, you might be in their position 50 years from now, and if people still had any respect left then they might even stand up for you.

here we have separate sections for women....if a man enter the women section he get fined big time if caught......once i did that but it was an honest mistake.....had to wait until the next stop to get out and sigh in relieve......five minutes....the only man in the women car and they are looking at me and their eyes screaming the question "you are a perv or something?".....the most unpleasant feeling

they go faster depending on the one you get, my mate had one that went 55ish and he got banned for speeding;)

nah, if ur 16 the max cc u can by is 50, which goes maximum 30mph :(
but when u get older 18 or 21 u can buy more advanced ones :)

damn!! i have to wait for another couple of months to get mine!!

it takes usually abou 4-6 weeks ( i know! alot) - but sometimes it can take longer if theres a lot of rush - many applying for it.......patience is what we need....:D

well at least your gonna have a smaller chance of getting banned!! :D

WOW 4-6WEEKS that good, i heard it takes 3months!!!

it could take longer than 6 weeks, but usually u get within 6 weeks!!

ITS NOT FAIR!!! :torture::spunch: wait until the end of may!! damn - that is long - but then i'll have to wait longer, coz then it'll be exam time...so will have to wait till the end of my exams!!! :spunch:

u have to renew ur oyster and become more RESPONSIBLE!! lol!!

i remember wen one of my friends turned 16 couple of months ago, she was so happy about getting the provisional lisence and forgot about everything else....she went to the library and found that she had a biig fine coz of her overdue books! - so u better be careful - (i think she had to pay about £25 fine for the books - boy, was she angry)!!!

u - good driver - more like by the time ur 17 - you'll be a dangerous driver  :D

(hate to admit this - but yes, usually it takes boys very few lessons....my brother told me his friend took only 14 and passed the first time!! (but then they become maniacs on the road!!:D:rolleyes:)

S'ok, I've figured it out, being a Londoner, and understandably supremacist, I was assuming there only is one number 8 or 9 in the country :p

Whereas you are in fact talking about Brummie town :D

Erm you know where Broad street is ? Abouyt 15 mins fro there

Sallams,

The bus is really disgusting, today I was on the 25 bus coming home with my cousin sister. She was telling me on the bus that couple of pervs(quite old 30-40 year olds) at looking up and down other girls on the bus. She felt very uncomfortable cause a man was staring at her every second. When i looked at the man, he stopped looking at my sis.

The tube is really worse in London during rush hours.

You have to show the ticket on the tube? Over here we swipe the MetroCard which allows the turnstile to rotate, so we can get on the train platform. No ticket checkers on busy train stations..thats impossible...

we have oyster its like new york metrocard but made of creditcard/plasticish type material and it records when it has been swiped, so the checker people can come and say ticket please, and u have 2 show ur oyster.. they put into their machine and if it doesnt come up that u swiped it in or have weekly, monthly travelcard whatever, u will get fined.

they mostly come on the buses and DLR, Silverlink and overground services to check if you got a valid ticket or not

to people saying you will get used to it especially to muslim women.. thats not the right attitude.. you should be late as much as you can to avoid touching non-mahram obeying Allah should come before anything else..
