Jessica prolly never had acne.
U dont want expensive chemicals near ur skin too much.
Acne is all to do with age....you grow out of it.
If you start putting on 7 products now....u mess ur skin up later.

Proactiv does not work at all. I have heard this from so many people I lost count. Its purely a gimmick.

:rotfl: haha, Jessica Simpson was eating Tuna, but she thought she was eating chicken because the brand was "Chicken Of the Sea"
I actually have used Proactiv and I have used it for about 1 year now. My acne would come periodically and sometimes it would be very bad and embarassing, so I decided to try the Proactiv since the regular stuff (over the counter) wasn't working. What I have found is that it works very well as long as I only use 2 parts out of the 3 part process. (I do not use the toner. I only use the cleaner, then I use Oxyclean (in place of the toner), and then I use the lotion.)
All of this may seem unnecessary to someone who does not experience acne, but for someone who does have acne, we know the embarassment it can cause. I know it is just about looks, and I am not big on looks or anything, but it's just that whenever my acne was bad, it would make me feel unclean, even though I wasn't and it was totally out of my control. I don't use make-up at all so that also affected me becasue I didn't use anything to cover up the blemishes. I don't think it's bad to use this stuff because it is not harsh and to me it is just medicine for my skin.
I would like to add that I believe face medication (prescribed by a dermatologist) will work just as well as Proactiv (and is probably less of a hassle as there is only one application needed, usually.) The benefit of using Proactiv is that it is delivered right to your door (convenience) and that they add the "fruu-fruu frills" (as I like to call it) - meaning the lotion smells good (unlike face meds) and all the Proactiv products make your skin feel very good (tingly and all that.) It is a little pricey, but I have managed to use small amounts so that I don't have to order it all the time, just once every 4 months.
I know of one other person who has used Proactiv and had success with it (she'd had very bad acne before) and I also know of 2 people who did not have success with it. I am not sure if this is a factor or not, but the two people who it didn't work for were African-American and myself and the other person who have had success are Caucasian. I wondered if that was a factor or not because we have different skin types (caucasian skin tends to be more oily than African-American skin).
Hope this can help in some way or another.
My daughter was using it but it caused an allergic reaction or something and she wound up with these really ugly splotches all over her
i dont have acne
Hmm, I disagree to whoever said that Acne grows out in age.
I have acne too. But alhamdulillah it's under control. Its not acne, but the dry kind..where I have to make sure my skin is moisturised no matter what. So because of this, my skin is clear and I would rather not try a new product, as tempting as it sounds. :D

why ruin ur skin with chemicals, when it will eventually go away anyways ?
its the oil of your skin that blocks pores and allows blackhead to form.
these blackheads in severe cases allow bacteria to breed and cause further bacterial growth....this is called acne.
skin cleansing and facial care is all that is needed.....dermatological products in EXTREME cases only.
other than that all other products are a waste.....nothing better than splashing your face, twice a day, with ice cold water.
but it doesnt look like the people in the pictures :(

Oh,

You want skin cleansing products, not acne clearing dermatological treatments !

but if yopu dont have acne.....wat do you need cleared ?
proactiv is specific for acne, it isnt gonna improve the tone if your skin.
it will get rid of bacterial growth, and act to treat ance.

I like the mint julep one the best. You can feel your skin tingling when you have it on.

My former neighbour tried it. It worked, until the bottle finished and he had to wait to get a new one. Once you stop using it the pimples came back. It's not too good if you use chemicals on your skin or it will get use to it. I looked up google for some natural home remedies and they have 7 ways.
1. Wash your face with lukewarm water and mild soap twice a day.
2. Wash fresh methi leaves (fenu greek leaves) and grind it to make a paste. Apply it on face and wash it off with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.
3. Grind juicy tender neem leaves with turmeric to a consistency of paste. Apply this paste on acne and pimples. Wash this off after it dries.
4. Apply a face pack of ripe tomato pulp and wash it off as soon as it dries naturally (preferably after 45 minutes).
5. Do not keep the make up while sleeping. Cleanse it with a mild herbal cleanser.
6. Mix besan flour (gram flour) with rose water and apply a face pack.
6. Consuming fresh vegetable salads and fresh fruits keeps the skin healthy and resistant to blemishes.
7. Drink plenty of water (15 glasses a day).
Also on Tyra she said if you put toothpaste on the zit and wait for it to dry before you wash it off, that apparently works also.

Don't put anything on your face if it isn't prescribed by your doctor.

no it does'nt, you just have to put lotion on your face whenever it feels dry. I'm living proof that it works.

lol really sorry for my ignorance, anyways now that i have read the thread i can say that keeping the face fresh and clean is important, and making sure there is no oil/grease on your face usually keeps the face looking top notch.

It doesn't work at all. Here what you should do sis. Drink lots of water. Add a good amount of veggies, fruits and foods that has high fiber content. Also include dairy products to your diet. Get lots of sleep....at least 8 years each day. If the acne problem still exists, consult a dermatologist.
PS. Good bowel movement is also necessary to get rid of acnes. :o
