View Full Version : Like Romeo before Juliet, Like Majnoon after Layla

The sun's shining outside,
But my curtains are closed,
There’s a cooling breeze outside,
But the air in my lungs stagnates,
Like Romeo before Juliet,
Nocturnal in self-made darkness,
Drowning alone in loss,
Before finding love,
As deep as a heartbeat,
Or the sigh of a soul,
Discovery that disarms,
Then destroys its home,
Like Majnoon after Layla,
In the sweltering heat,
Of a passionate yearning,
Poetry in each tear,
Heartache in each kiss,
Through a dog or brick,
Reaching out for you,
Helplessly burning inside.

The day’s bright outside,
But my curtains are closed,
Gentle breeze through the trees,
But every leaf I touch rots,
Like a perverse cursed Midas,
With a garden of thorns,
No roses just a lawn of corpses,
Dead dreams that I’d seen,
Too precious and fragile,
Fractured upon my touch,
Now nourishing weeds and vines,
Overgrown to cover windows,
Open eyes unable to see you,
Overflow with stinging tears,
Like Psyche crying for Eros,
A mythical lie to hurt minds,
Every lover's dead or dying,
There’s nothing great in that pain,
Insurmountable tasks remain that way,
No test would bring you back to me,
Love immortal only in delusions,
Still this pathogenic burning inside.

erm goths don't always wear leather, they just tend to wear black clothing and makeup, and emos are similarly dark but moreso in their mental state.

And are you trying to say I'm an outcast in society when you call me an emo then? :torture:

I go through phases :o ..sometimes I'm totally anti-social and won't call or text anyone for ages.. other times I'm in the thick of the action and being a really :D and  with everyone in sight ..bit of a bipolar britney you could say :p

The real question is how bollywood are YOU in real life? Have you ever hugged a tree or ran across a field/hill with outstetched arms whilst singing a love song?

i cant write urdu poetry
i only jack the naat lyrics :o:o coz im soo :inlove: with them or sometimes my rents tell me to go and learn this or that

im not much of a poet actually, i suppose the words just come to you as you write?? because you seem to write a lot
do you write about feelings or about anything? and how long do your poems take you to write?

im not very expressive of my feelings so its awkward and difficult putting them down in writing you feel kinda exposed if u know what i mean?

i have to put too much brain power into it when i do decide to write something (which is hardly ever)
it doesnt flow naturally :(

I love writing I guess.. and creating.. and poetry is probably the best way for me because it's beautiful, expressive, multi-faceted and I'm not patient enough to commit to prose [I've tried many times and always leave things incomplete].. Plus being a writer has always been a pipe dream of mine and the one lasting ambition through all my changes of heart, so make dua I get the patience for it :o

It takes me no time at all to write, at least it doesn't feel like it does.. it does just come itself mostly.. sometimes you need to search for the right words though.. sometimes it half comes naturally but isn't complete and you need to put some mental effort in to get the rest out.. ..what I really hate though is when I have no pen/paper/computer and a poem just comes to me, I've lost loads like that :smack:

I write about anything*, thoughts, weird ideas, incidents, other peoples situations or words, my own feelings, some themes I just like to write about [depression, love, religion being the common ones] ..I don't feel exposed, because noone really knows what it's about but me, they can assume but that'd be their own assumptions not necessarily the truth.. also half the time people attach their own meanings to things and relate to it in their own way, but only you can see your words through your own eyes and know where it comes from..

It would be wrong if people thought by reading my stuff they could know what's going on in my life, heart or head. I kinda do hate the idea of people thinking they can psycho-analyse me from my stuff, but I know they can't :buttkick: so it doesn't bother me enough to not share it.

*one of my faves is the one about my tea and my messy desk (http://word-flow.blogspot.com/2007/01/cup-of-tea.html) just cuz of how it sounds in my head and remembering when I wrote it.

http://www.ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79952

i do read other people's poetry and short stories, but its difficult to find that stuff that really keeps a hold on you and you can read it all the way through
i like amir sulaimans poetry

She said i prefer a broken neck to another broken heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHnHvgciGmk&feature=related)

Danger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WczGIhmaJ_M&feature=related)

but now he's started to use music in his poetry and kinda turned it into rap :(
