Are you a guy or girl Deeds??
why are you ok with it? i would think that many women would find it odd being with a guy who is younger than them. Don't women want a guy who is more mature which comes with age?
:salams:
Not necessarily, some people mature with life experience. Some people just have a more mature out-look to life. To follow an Islamic life-style also gives you a more mature constitution.
As I women I do not discriminate or pre-judge. So for me its not a issue.

i dont think there is anything wrong with it. but for a girl if u want to get married young-ish like 18, then if the guy is much younger.. he would be too young? if he is still in school or something then how can u? if the girl is still in school its not quite so much like that

Honestly I'm going to say very unlikely if not no. 10 years older is too much - I wouldn't mind marrying an older sister seriously - but 10 years or more, lol, try a max of 3 years so I don't feel like an intellectual baby :p

Honestly, I would not be able to marry a lady who is 10 years older than me. I don't think I'd be able to cope with the psychological differences that comes with age. My preference is of same age or maximum 2 years younger/older than me.

age makes no difference, some men can be mummys boys and still immature at age 50 ...and you can find 20 year olds who are more responsible towards their islamic obligations than their fathers. my ex- husband was 12 years younger than me the age difference wasnt a problem. a muslim husband is a muslim husband no matter what age they are. There was a 15 year age gap, between khadijah radiallahu anha and Muhammad salAllahu alleyhi wa salam, and age wasnt a problem for them either alhamdulillah.

a lot of younger brothers are much more actively practising, maash'Allah and you've got to give them credit for the fact that they not only practise the Deen at a young age, but also during these times of additional pressure on Muslims to conform. Unfortunately you'll find a lot of brothers who are a bit older, like in their late twenties-thirties who prioritise their work and fitting in to society more over their Islamic identity. At least, that's what I've found and for that reason I wouldn't mind marrying someone younger. But at the end of the day it's all down to what the person is like anyway. :)
The question isn't fair. It gives a set age for the men, and its a general question for the women.

i think it depends on the person. me personally i couldn't be married to someone who was much older than me(over 10 years). i don't think i would have anything in common with someone who was much older than me
i know of one sister who is around my age and she is married to someone who is over 30 years older than her. i couldn't marry someone like that old it would be like having a 3rd parents

Why do so many young arab men in their twenties marry old english grannies?
I just know a few people who did this.
There's this arab student who's 26 and just married this granny who looked like Popeye the sailor man in a bridal outfit!
What's he hoping for? Children?

I never did understand why age makes a differance.

I dont see why age is too much of a problem unless its a really dramatic difference. Like 10 years, the couple would not be able to really relate to each other. Other than that it does'nt really matter. My father is 2 years younger than my mother and it worked out just fine.
Generally though, I think women want older men 'cause women mature faster and want an older guy so they can be on the same par.

Both actually.

Ok but what if the man is younger in age however physically and mentally mature?? I personally think age has nothing to do with it at all. Age is associated with the mental thinking of a person because the younger one is the less mature he/she usally is. However I think the factor which should be taken into consideration is the level of maturity and not the number at which it has come, for example someone could be 16 and mature physically and mentally ,however someone who is 20 may be less mature mentally then the 16 year old.

Women mature faster than men, both physically and intellectually.
But when a men reaches age range (21 to 26), Sisters should not say that "I want a man older than me so that we can be on the same intellectual page" If a man is in his mid twenties, marry him even if he is younger than you.
This age range from men if their their ultimate intellectual state.
At age 40, men reach the age of wisdom (most prophets started being prophet at the age of 40)
Women on the other end, reach their ultimate intellectual state at the age of 18
Keep in ming that a he/she who does not behave accordingly( good manners, Islam especially) is never intellectually mature no matter his/her age:torture:

yes that's true I was just generalizing. As in the case of my parents, my dad was 2 years younger but he was mature, so it worked out.
Once people reach past age 25 (give or take) they have fully matured and then age does not matter.
