ok im gona use this thread for the whole day, NOT ONLY ONCE, so come back to it :)

ok lets start with metabolism

check is the following is correct:

metabolism is all the chemical reactions that take place inside living cells or organism

there are 2 types of metabolism: anabolism and catabolism

catabolism - the breakdown of large substances into smaller ones, releasing energy (ATP), e.g. respiration

anabolism: the build up of substances, e.g. proteins from amino acids, using up ATP energy. anabolism uses the energy released from catabolism

ATP is a nucleotide that carries chemical energy in living organisms

basal metabolism is the minimum turnover of energy needed to keep living organisms alive, e.g. in humans - digestion, heart beat, breathing etc...

Now teach me Kreb's cycle :D

Lol, jkn, is this for AS level?

I wonder if ana mujahid as realised that there are other sections on Ummah beside this one? :p

Here is a cool idea, stop revising sooo hard :torture:

Btw I remember from AS Level you're definition of ATP is not detailed enough :torture: I think you have to mention sumthin about it having mitochondria as well? Or did it? I dunno I'm rubbish at science :outta:

lol nope, GCSE :) dnt know much bout kreb's cycle yet!

you got anyfin on chemistry! :o

got chemistry exam on wednesday, ill be revising for it on tuesday, make sure ur on ummah :p :D:)

well during my exams i have no time to go to other sections, except during my breaks! well ill be finished with my exams on thursday, 1month l8r other exams start

i dont need full meaning of ATP atm, cuz im just doing GCSE, next year i will do :)

Why don't you just use your text books or google Im sure you will find the answers quicker than you will here :)

from google define: Adenosine triphosphate, a high energy phosphate molecule used to store and release energy for work within the body.

Okay this is what I remember from my Biology A level.

Metabolic Pathway

is a sequence of biochemical reactions controlled by enzymes, e.g. glycolisis, Krebs cycle

The process occurs in small steps whereby substances are either broken down into smaller molecules (catabollic reactions) or built up into more complexed ones (anabollic reactions).

Metabolic Pathways include:

Catabolism - Chemical energy in which larger molecules are broken down to smaller ones. This releases energy e.g. respiration.

Anabolism - a chemical reaction in which smaller molecules combine to form larger ones, e.g. Protein Synthesis. Anabollic reactions require energy.

ATP

ATP consists of the nucleotide odenosine, with 3 phospate groups attached. It is an important carrier of chemical energy in ALL living organisms.

Importance of ATP (these kind of questions usually come up btw)

May be used in:

- Many different biochemical reactions
- Active transport
- Muscle contraciton
- Phosphorylation of substrate
- ATP is needed during cell division and snythesis of organelles.
- ATP is used in anabollic reactions.

well ive already done that during my major revision (a week ago) :)
my exam is tomorrow, and im revising from the notes ive taken, and i post in a few forums, including yahoo to check is my note is correct

:jkk: i dont need as much information cuz im doing (I)GCSE :)
but its good to have such stuff in mind, and i can gain extra marks for writing next lvl information

You do IGCSE? I used to do that. I hated it :torture: Where are you doing it?

GCSE's are wayyyy better or should I say easier :p

well i wanted to do GCSE but my stupid skwl changed  im leaving it next year though:D

im doing at the king fahad academy :torture: i dont advice u go even search for this school, it used to be the best skwl in the UK, now its the worst!

remember me in ur duas please :(
i got some much revision to do and its 8:00already!

King Fahad academy? There is one in England? Why would they switch, I think that is quite silly.
My dad teaches at King Fahad University!

You will do well, don't overload inshaAllah. At this stage just focus on your past papers, that always works for me

yep after revision im gona start with the past papers i got.

king fahad university? in america yea?

yep there is a king fahad academy in england, ive been there since year 2 :)
but over the time it became the worst school in england  thats why i do alot of personal revision :D

No not that one. Well may Allah make it easy for you since you are doing most of it yourself. But independent work will come in real handy when you start sixth form and uni :coolbro:

No the one in Saudi Arabia. Well may Allah make it easy for you since you are doing most of it yourself. But independent work will come in real handy when you start sixth form and uni :coolbro:

cool

Ameen to the dua :)
ive been working independently for a long time now, so im use to it :)

nways, i still got tonnes of revision to get through, no including past papers i want to do.

so cya'll soon

and :jkk:
