Various shops should have small ranges of items. I'd try Primark too but also Tesco and if all else fails, mothercare sell a white baby clothes pack which can cover most of the basics:

http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000IVYEJ4/sr=1-24/qid=1200603075/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=60626031&mcb=core

If you're trying to avoid things like cartoon faces etc, then the safe bet is to look for stripes and as it's neutral colours, go for turquoise, yellow or beige mainly. Gap do some good neutral clothes but they're pricey.

I can only think of the boring all white sleepsuit: http://minimode.co.uk/shop/product/products_id/159.html

There's something here:

Can you just undo the eyes of the animals? most are embroided so if you get small scissors you should be able to take them off...

If you knew whether you are shopping for a boy or a girl it would be a lot easier to avoid animals... :o but unisex is full of the stuff!

Don't think brown is a neutral colour if you ask me.

u hardly get much choice for neutral baby stuff... alot of places do it but they have only like 5 outfits and then boy and girl has loads, and yeh may hav alot of animals on em. only thing to do is browse around.. although sometimes if u get the organic cotton type stuff, they dnt put animals and that on it, they keep the design more simple and they look okay... i will browse online later n see if i find ne good links for this neutral stuff specifically.
also u can wait a bit n buy more stuff once u find out boy or girl, whether that is on the scan or even after they are born (but gna b busy then :S)

try the internet...... also do any of you have contacts in the USA who can buy you stuff and send it? My husband's sister sent us loads of gorgeous green, yellow and white baby clothes before Ruqayya was born. Not sure where they were from, but they were from the USA. Maybe one of the chains over there?

Also you could try getting a load of white babygros and dieing them neutral colours, divide them into three batches, keep one batch white, die the second batch green and the third lot yellow or something.

Also keep looking out in places like boots, they change their ranges quite frequently, so you can buy one outfit, then a couple of months later buy a different one.

Also bambino in exeter always had nice traditional baby clothes, if you don't live in exeter you can always use their internet site inshaAllah.
