Narrated by Uqba bin Aamir (RA), 'I heard Allah's Messenger :saw: saying: One of my followers gets up at night pushing himself to perform ablution (for prayer). On him there are several knots of Shaytaan. When he washes his hands, a knot loosens. When he washes his face, another knot loosens. When he passes his wet hands over his head, yet another knot loosens. When he washes his feet, the last knot loosens. Then Allah (SAW) says to those beyond the eyes i.e the angels "Look at this slave of Mine who cures his inner self and asks Me for forgiveness so what he asks is given to him.''

(This hadith is sound and reported by Ibn Hibban and Ahmed in his Musnad.)

nice one, i think by default we should have a habit of making wudhu before we go to sleep.

apart from the sawaan and islamic aspect, i think its just hygenic and being clean

I'm saying in the middle of a south african summer :D - methinks my tune will change come winter :D :D

Jazaak Allahul Khair. Not to mention that making ablution at night really helps us in waking up for Fajr

I also find making wudu before bed helps protect one against bad dreams

However, I have trouble making wudu before bed. Just some mentality that I'll break wudu in like 10 mins when I fall asleep keeps me from making wudu. I say "bismillah" and wash my hands and stuff, but I don't make complete wudu. I need to learn to get over this.
