When the body is exposed to Amalgam filling (http://www.rajkrishnan.com/) it has an on-going need for detoxification and healing processes. If you have a medical condition, then hormones and enzymes the body needs to heal have likely been depleted by this on-going detoxification and healing process. So before your amalgam restorations are removed, blood testing should be performed to determine what hormones and enzymes are deficient. Based on the blood test results a medical doctor can evaluate what nutritional and hormonal supplements are needed to prepare the body. After amalgams are removed, the healing usually accelerates, so there will be an even greater demand for the hormones and enzymes that were depleted. So a patient with a medical condition should take nutritional and hormonal supplements before, during and after amalgam removal.
Dental Procedures for Patient Protection during Amalgam Removal
Place a rubber dam around the tooth to isolate it from the body,
Provide an alternative source of air to the patient,
Place a saliva ejector under the dam to remove mercury vapor that penetrates the latex,
Use high volume evacuation with isolate attachment,
Section amalgams and remove in as large pieces as possible,
Remove and properly dispose of rubber dam and mercury after amalgam removal.
Other amalgam removal precautions in addition to the protocols listed above include:
Remove no more than two amalgams per appointment,
Time amalgam removal appointments at least one month apart,
Administer intravenous Vitamin C before removal (Hg has a greater affinity to Vitamin C that is present in the blood than it does for body tissue),
Dont remove amalgams from a pregnant woman.
The amalgam removal using rubber dam, water spray cutting and high volume vacuum evacuator, was carried out at one and the same time. Blood and urine samples were collected at two occasions before the amalgam removal, and then blood was collected at thirty two occasions and urine at forty three occasions during the following year. The mercury content was analyzed by CVAAS technique.

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the forum.
Some years ago I had all of my amalgam fillings removed after learning what a deadly poison it is. Obviously it doesn't kill you instantly, otherwise it would be more obvious. But what a lot of people don't realize is that it causes all kinds of health problems that people wouldn't associate with their amalgam fillings.
What people need to realize is that this material is one of the most poisonous substances on the planet and can cause serious damage to your health.
And you're right with the information that you posted below. The dentist who removes amalgam from your teeth needs to be informed about the proper procedure.

The whole issue of amalgam fillings being dangerous and a killer are rubbish. Mercury is found in other sources also such as fish in higher concentrations (which is minute) compared to that given off as vapor in amalgam fillings. Even the FDA has concluded that their is no hard evidence to show that mercury in amalgam fillings is dangerous.

most dental studies have been inconclusive in demonstrating that having metal amalgam fillings significantly harm the health of the individual
as the other brother mentioned fish in particular tuna has a higher concentration of mercury and we eat this ....well at least i do !
also removal of amalgam unless done extremely carefully is likely to cause more harm due to the mercury vapour that it removed
i tell my patients if they want there metal amalgam fillings removed because of health concerns then they need not worry but if they want them upgraded for cosmetic purposes to something that looks and feels more natural then there reason for wanting them replaced is justified
the greater problem with the metal amalgam fillings is the destructive preparation of the tooth that is required to get them to hold into the tooth unlike composite white fillings and porcelain inlays they dont bond to tooth so they dont reinforce the surrounding structure
in fact they act as a wedge and can propagate tooth fracture this is more of a problem therefore composite white fillings should be indicated for all small to medium sized cavities and porcelain inlays for larger cavities
wasalam
sorry if that boooored anyone !
There's also been a report in Australia in which Doctors are warning people to not feed their kids too much big fish (although they say small fry in moderate amounts such as hake are okay) because they've found some kids that were fed it everyday were having developmental difficulties and their bodies contained excessive amounts of mercury.
