View Full Version : Something I realized about the sunnah.
Assalaam Alikum.
Something I came to realize about Sunnah is that it's Islamic Extra Credit. The obligatory "grade" is the 5 Pillars, and Sunnah is "extra credit". The more Sunnah you follow, the more extra credit you get, and the greater your reward in Paradise is (your "grade")
I just had to get that out. I think that might be helpful for some new Muslims.

IN Salat, there are 2 types of Sunnah, Sunnah e Muaqeda & simply Sunnah. Sunnah e Muaqeda is considered obligatory. & the other Sunnah is not but it is highly recommended.
example of Sunnah e Muaqeda,
In Fajr Salat , we have 2 Sunnah e Muaqeda & 2 Fardh. The Sunnah e Muaqeda is offered before the Fardh prayer.

so, for example, that means it's a sin to miss sunnah prayers, it's a sin to not wear a turban for guys and it's a sin to not brush the teeth with miswak? since those are part of the sunah right

The Prophet :saw: said, "Whoever abandons my Sunnah, is not from amongst us."
