Every Penny Counts
by Muhammad Chothia
“The status of Imaam Bukhaari rahamatullahi alayh is known to one and all. It is obvious that his piety and sincerity played a great part in him acquiring this status. However, there are other factors which also played a prominent role.
One such factor was the purity of his father’s earnings. His father stated just prior to his death that:
“I am certain that all my wealth is completely halaal. There is not even a single (penny) upon which I have even the slightest doubt.”
When a child is nourished right from childhood with only pure things this in turn will have the appropriate spiritual effect. As we see in the case of Imaam Bukhaari this halaal income proved to be a catalyst for the great status that he gained.
Whereas, we cheat, deceive and lie to get whatever income we can. We then foolishly expect our children to grow up to be pious people.
It is surprising to observe that when purchasing any item from the supermarket we closely scrutinise each and every ingredient. However, we never take a step back and look at the money with which we are buying this item.
We need to ask ourselves if the money we are using has been obtained from halaal sources or whether we adopted impermissible means to acquire this money.
Inshallah ensuring that we only have Halaal wealth will have a positive effect on all aspects of our life.”
