Just wondering: when listening to Ummah Radio, how much of your cap does it use up? I only have about 3 gigs for the month so I have to be careful not to use it all up too soon.
Wassalaam.
access it thru flash player www.ummahradio.com/index.php

ah yes Middle Road
Fellow south african:) We have to scrounge our precious bandwidth eh,.
For the non south african's, heres a problem we face.
Severe Telecoms monopoly here, ADSL internet is Very pricy, just your monthly rental (without bandwidth is about ) 30 pounds.
To get 3 gigabytes of bandwidth will cost you 14 pounds,
Hence, listening to streaming audio could use up alot of bandwidth.
So our question is (i'v been meaning to ask)
How much bandwidth will Ummah Radio take, like say in 1 hour. 10megs? 20megs?

:wswrwb:
well currently its streaming at 56kbps
so in one minute it will 3360kbps which is equivalent to 0.420 MB
so in an hour it uses 25.2MB
so with ur 3 gig limit u can listen to 120 hours of the radio
hope that helps...and i hope i got the bits and bytes conversions all correct :o

If what you say is correct, then I guess I can afford to listen in for a while. (Am doing so now).
