what is the differences between hydrogen chlorine and hydrochloric acid

chemically, nothing. Although when you say Hydrochloric Acid, we assume that you mean an aqueous solution of Hydrogen chloride.

When you just say Hydrogen Chloride, you could be referring to the gas, the solution, or even the solid.

Acidic.Well it's an acid once it comes into contact with moisture..

so what is hydorgen chloride? acid? alkaline?

Well, see, you really don't have to know this for GCSE, but HCl, of itself, isn't an acid.

So Hydrogen Chloride isn't an acid. It's only when something dissociates and you get the relevant ions do you get what we call an acid.

Gloss it over, or if you want, go look up the definition of an acid in an A-level textbook, or even an undergraduate one.

Whenever you're talking about an acid, just call it Hydrochloric acid.

so if i want to describe the properties of solutions of hydrogen chlorine in water and in methylbenzene, will the properties be the same as HCl gas?
