MOVE!

Like do some sport or something! I've been at home revising for the past 2 weeks and i've been thinking i havn't done sport in aggggesss! :(
I'm sure many sisters have the same problem as me. In the days before hijab i used to go to the gym weekly, go out for runs in my village, go to aerobics classes, and years ago in school i used to love netball and basketball and hockey..but now i feel so lazy!!

Anyway, sisters what do you do to keep active? A couple of years ago when i was friends with a group of sisters nearby they used to hire a swimming pool and then we'd go swimming, no guys or anything, so we could just wear normal swimwear. Unfortunately I've lost contact with these sisters, so i'm alone! (Trying to get into contact with them again :)) But now i really wanna play netball or something. As for slow stretches and yoga, pilates etc etc, yeah you can do it at home, but its just boring and frankly not very active.

Rant over.

:p lol sis, tell me about it!

i havent played any sport or did any sort of exercise in......ages! :(

when i was younger...like really younger, i would practically live outdoors...i would spend all day playing any sport with anyone i could find....even indoors i couldnt get from one room to another without running or skipping lol....i was toooo into sport....i loved cricket!!!

but...you know how it is...the time comes when you have to grow up and wisen up and slowly i started to stop.......and now i wouldnt dare play sport becoz its hard to find situations when its just sisters...and its kind of embarrassing...but i know how u feel, i miss the old days!

I know, I don't want to go running in the park cos it can be considered immodest even if fully covered, plus I'd feel a bit silly.
there are women's gyms where you can go for a bit of a workout. or, I know, why don't we start our own netball team or even football? I'm useless at sports but it'll be fun anyway- who's up for it??!!

Anyway, yeah it's not really appropriate to do sports in public, even if your covered.
I don't think just because your older you can't do sports. If a group of sisters are organising something, like when i used to go swimming, and theres no guys wondering about, then i don't see the problem. But the problem is organising something when there is no guys around :l
Even in womens only swimming sessions they can't guarantee male life guards won't be on duty.
What about at uni isocs, like generally, do they organise sports for sisters? I'm going to uni next year ensha allah, so im curious, been on a few isoc websites to see the kind of events they organise.

Awww, sis i know what you mean!!!

I would love to join any kind of sisters only sports, i just wish there was more around my area. There are women only times @ gyms and stuff but i'd like to do more outdoor sports which obviously isn't practical.:(

About the isoc's sports- I know last year ulu isoc had a sisters only sports thing goin on for all the isocs and you get to chose out of doing football or basketball. They had a few training sessions and then the tournament. InshaAllah they will do it again this year.

If not, then when you do go to uni you can get a bunch of sisters together and organise your own little sports events within your isoc, hiring out little halls etc.

why havn't you done that i hear you ask....maybe a lil too lazy!lol

Why is the hijab stopping you from doing all the above?

Swimming - Plenty of ladies swimming sessions

Running - I'm always late to seminar so I do quite a lot of running :p

Basketball - A group of sisters could rent out a hall for one day and play basketball and tennis.

Gym - Shouldn't there be a ladies gym at your univeristy? If not, there are so many in the UK. PM me if you want contact details.

I'm sure some people will scoff at this but it's so true! Any type of moving burns calories.

Also there are plenty of specific exercises you can do at home to keep in shape. Push-ups, sit-ups, etc. and you could save up for a treadmill to run indoors.
