how do i play the quran surahs via winamp? i used to be able to play them via winamp b4 the reinstallation

Type of file : PHP file.

i have tried to play it via Windows media player and it doesnt work and also thru MpcStar , some worked and some didnt :rubeyes:

also it doesnt play via Windows media or MpcStar (whihc is allegedly like VLC and supposed to play "everything")

i tried that last time but u need Windows Media 11 for that and mine was 9 ?

Have you tried playin it with media classic.

get wmp 11 than. You can d/l it from a torrent website.

yes i tried with Media classic but no go.

Im no good with torrents, i find them confusing :confused: (sorry i dont mean to sound negative at everything) but it gets confusing with me :confused:

its not a link , the surahs are all d/l'ed onto my PC?

maybe you didn't download them right......sometimes (right click > save as) will only save the html page which should redirect you to the audio file

what is the sizes of those files?

Have you tried renaming the file. rename it to mp3.

they used to all play before the reinstallation :rubeyes:

try renaming the extensions to mp3

Have you tried renaming the file. rename it to mp3.

right click on the file, rename, get rid of the php at the end of the file and replace it with mp3.

3- scroll to "hide extensions for known file types" and uncheck it and press Ok

done that but still not playing, its just strange that some play and some dont.

Do me a favour, you know the folder they're all in, click on the list menu at the top of the folder, and then click on detail. Are all the files roughly the same size ?

Can you play/listen to them files online.?

If u can, than it probbaly will open with wmp, when it does let the fille load and than save it.

lol, yeah sorry Ukhti. I just had a look at mine, and there are some really small files (i dunno why I hought they would be around 1 meg or larger.

Like Aakhi Al-Nasser said, I think you should upload a file. Use rapidshare or somewhere similar

sounds like you've been downloading them wrong. instead of clicking the link to download the files, you might have right clicked the link and selected "save as". if you do that, it can give you the files you have ended up with (php).

tried a file identification tool and got no results....opened the file in hex editor and again there is no clue on the file type

maybe your PC was hit with a virus which corrupt mp3 files.....a slim possibility but i can't think of anything else

i will have to download them again. Anyone know where i can download all the surah recitations again? i cant remeber where i got these from it was so long ago
