As salaamu Alaikum

I learned that windows vista does not permit partitioning and I really want to partition my HDD in order to have another OS installed (like WXP, Ubuntu or Mac). Our network administrator recently informed me that I cannot equally boot an OS from an external hard disc. Could someone here assist with information with regards to the following:

How can I partion my root drive, while Vista is still installed?
Does Vista permits dual booting?
Where can I download Ubuntu for my use as a second OS (because I cant purchase online from Nigeria due to security regulations)?
Is is possible downloading a free Mac OS from the internet?
Kindly assist please.

I have Vista and Ubuntu on my laptop.
1. Install Ubuntu and then there is an option where you choose how much space Ubuntu takes up on your computer.
2. Yes Vista, i both has Vista and Ubuntu on my laptop.
3. You download it then put it onto a disk and then install it. You put the CD in your computer and then restart then it comes up with Ubuntu and go onto to install it.
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download download from here.
4. MAC OSX cannot be installed on laptops, only on native Apple computers.

Send me a message on the PM if you need further help and i'll give you my MSN.

Just be careful. Usually a Windows partition will take up the whole disk so you will have to resize it so that you can fit Ubuntu. Also, I am not sure how grub / LiLo support is for Vista... I know I've had to wipe my master boot record a few times so that my system will recognize XP because grub pointed to the wrong place. That's why I just swap hard drives rather than use a boot loader.
