Ahadith Regarding the virtues of Knowledge

Mu`awiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "When Allah wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of Deen.''

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Allah makes the way to Jannah easy for him who treads the path in search of knowledge.''

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The world, with all that it contains, is accursed except for the remembrance of Allah that which pleases Allah; and the religious scholars and seekers of knowledge.''

After reading these one can not help but think "am i seeking knowledge the way it should be sought?" That is why insha Allah we are starting an Islamic Studies project, the way it will work is, i will (Insha Allah) post up a chapter from a book each week and then followed by questions which are in the book, then we discuss the answers and so forth. the chapters will Insha Allah include:


Tawhid: Sections
Tawhid: 'Ibadah
Tawhid: Isra' and Mi'raj
Usul at-Tafsir: The Collection Of The Qur'an
Usul al_hadith
Usul al-Fiqh: The sources Of Islamic Law


The project will start Insha Allah soon, and the more who Participate the better Insha Allah. If you want to Participate just say so.

Basically to expand upon what akhy Fady said, just some more concrete details insha'Allah.

A new chapter will be posted every week, broken up into parts which will be posted daily. Questions are posed at the end of the week.

You have until the following week to answer the questions. All answers will be PM'd to me insha'Allah [I only check this account once a day at 2amish so unnessary pm's will be avoided insha'Allah]

Reason for PM'ing is so a)people dont cheat and b) it gives more motivation to do well knowing you are competing with others in doing good and c) we havnt thought of yet

The answers are then posted and maybe, not sure about this but the marks for everyone are put up. But yea, thats the basic idea insha'Allah, all subject to change and stuff.

Your statuory rights are not affected. Batteries not included.

Lol, where have you been? :p The explanation was up since last Saturday habibty. So then Akhee Abu Muslimah and Akhee Fady gave us a week to read and understand. Then they were gonna remove the explanation so we can answer the questions. But since this is our first set of questions they have decided to leave the explanation up in white, to make it easier for us or for some of us that missed the third part *cough* me. So look at it, revise from it and then answer the questions without looking :p:D

However, from next week they will be removing the answers. Hope this makes sense inshaAllah and I hope I explained it right.

Have just seen on other forums once u split the sections too many little ones, the place becomes a bit dead and we have some inactive sections, which gives a really bad look to the place and also is annoying.. and more clicks to get into the section that u want.

If people keep on finding it hard having all in the same place, then will think about it some more.

u could subscribe to the thread where the topics are posted. that way it will be better if instead of taking a new thread each week for it, keep it all in the same thread for the duration of the topic. and when u want to delete the thing for the question time, just soft delete it and then we will bring it back?

like just having a thread for the extracts, updated everytime we get a new thing, thread for questions and thread for answers.. and keep those three for the duration of the whole project that way people can subscribe to it, and u can access it thru ur user cp aswell.

Thats true about areas going dead but seeing as these are on going, the same people would always come back as it is? Well what I've always suggested is to have them on the main forum page like:

*Main
- General
- Lifestyle
- Marriage

But for this sometihng like:

*Ummah Forum Projects
- Ummah Islamic Studies
- Ummah Quran Project
- Other Projects

And since the UQP AND ISP both have mutpliple topics [theres gonna be a new topic for each chapter] then it would be a lot more organsie d instead of having 100 topics in one sections seperated by short names. And then leave the other projects in "other projects" section as they have one topic for the entire project. And also my main reason for wanting this is so others get interested, if its on main page, more members would like click and even non members wa Allahu alim.

Yep, as Fady explained, enough to answer the question and so I know you know what your on about, but not like super lengthy. Well actually you cab write as much as you want, even a book worth, I will mark it insha'Allah but you dont get extra marks. Quality over quantity.

Next Saturday insha'Allah. I'm still trynna work out how it will work. Im thikning to mark them and then post scores and then post the correct answers in a topic but you might wanna know where you went wrong..so what I might do is give back everyones answers back and give mark and put a red mark where you got it wrong and then you can check the correct answer thread to see the answer insha'Allah.

Its free and most of it is taken from the same book, Islamic Studies by Bilal Philips and from some of his other books. Plus there's video and audio explanations as well and it goes into usool at tafsir and usool al hadeeth in much more detail. There are also tests and assignments which are marked and there are sessions with Bilal Philips where you can ask him questions :)

masha'Allah recieved quite a lot of answers so far, and so far everyone has done well from what I've seen.

I had a look at the physical book and it doesn't actually have the answers to the questions *smacks head*

So...that means I'm going to have to mark the questions with my own limited Islaamic knowledge, I apologise for that *purple faced emoticon*

After having a scan read I noticed that the last question actually has a variety of possible answers so if you are going to say its a part of tawheed please explain why so I may give you a mark knowing you know what you're on about.

It will be 1 mark per question to keep things simple. You may discuss answers or discuss queestions aswell.

And also, in this book, its split tawheed into 3 sections and calls one Tawheed al-'Ibadah: . This is actually exactly the same as Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah which is what it is usually more commonly known as, just a change of word, thats it.

Everyone i am sorry, I have been way too busy, and I keep forgetting about this :o again i am very very very sorry, Insha Allah what I think we'll do now is as follows:

I will post the rest of the chapter on isra wal Mi'raj today, then give you until Friday then post Questions on Friday, then you answer them by next Friday, then i will post whole Chapter on Sunday and so forth...what do you guys think? fine with you? I won't have much time posting parts on weekdays that is why this will be good with me, however if you guys don't like it, then I will have to figure out a way to do it, jazakum Allah Khayr...
