View Full Version : Changing Size of Apps, Fonts and Icons...
Asalaam alaikum
i have just had a reinstallation done on my PC and i have put it on as normal but everything is coming up sooo BIG on it, the applications i run are big, the icons are big and so are the fonts
how do i change it becos i keep having to scroll becos evrything is so ...big.?
Also, When im in more than one application and i click on it to make that the "active" application i want to use or read etc, it doesnt become "active" it only moves BEHIND the other applications i have running, how do i change it so it doesnt do this?
Jazakallah!

rigght click the background in the desktop (i.e. where your wallpapers is) and click 'properties' in the dropdown menu.
When the display properties windows comes up, click on the tab furthermost to the right called 'settings'. On this page, under 'screen resolution' you'll be able to change the screen resolution by moving the cursor from left (Less) to right (More). Move it more to the left as its problably on 640x480 right now if everything is so huge... A good size (if you're running windows XP) is 1024 x 768.
As for the applications being in front of each other, this depends on the applications you currently run before opening a new one. The settings of those you're already running are probably set to 'Always on Top' which means they won't let any programs fall in front of it when they're opened... This should be able to be changed by clicking 'view' on the top menu or by scrolling through the different options to change the display settings of the program.
Now, if you're satisfied with this please call 0870 0845 1800 0800, to answer a customer satisfaction survey, calls are charged at £4.50/min. Thank you for calling acha ok cya goodbye ta ta

Ameen, should be sufficient :p (Inshallah)
Just a quick warning btw: NEVER CALL MICROSOFT FOR HELP, EVER - they really are criminals when it comes to charging, one time the operator asked me for a set charge of £28.00 before she continued to give me help, before I had even told her my problem! When I complained saying "so.. I have to pay you for you to find out what problem I have? the computer could just not be plugged in for all you could know would that cost £28.00?" to which she replied "that is the policy sir", to which I just hung up.
another question, how do i get rid of unwanted toolbars:rubeyes:

check Add/Remove programs in the control panel. they usually have the uninstaller for the toolbars there.
what kind of toolbars do u have? yahoo? google? msn? or some other crazy ones...cuz thsoe are sometimes harder to get rid of and are usually included with spyware...
if i remember correctly, u can get rid of the google toolbar (or yahoo) through the toolbar itself. there's a uninstall button hiding somewhere there (i think on the icon there's a pull down menu, check that).

wa iyyaka,
but sis...by unchecking the toolbars via View menu, u just hide it.
u know, i had yahoo toolbar all this time and i didn't even know, because i had unchecked it via view a whiel back...and just found out i still had it when I checked it a few minutes ago
btw, when it says u gotta restart firefox..u gotta make sure every instance of it is exited. and since u had two google toolbars installed, i don't think it even recognized the uninstall of one of the toolbars (u probably would have to uninstall both, make sure it's not present, and then install it just once).

when u say i gotta make sure im exited from "every instance" does restarting the PC not do this, bcos thats what i did
i think this toolbar must have come with a programme i might have installed, but becos i installed more than one (becos of the reinstallation) i dont know which one
There is no separate programme in Control Panel to delete

restarting should have done the trick. but if that didn't, then i suspect having two instances of google toolbar may have caused the problem. try uninstalling both of them (make them viewable first)....and then exit all instances of firefox. this means simply making sure there is no firefox process running in the task manager.

i found an uninstall option, when i "uninstalled" and went back into firefox, it comes up with a Google page saying "thankyou for installing the Google toolbar"
this is just weird.
It only comes up on my F/fox and not on my IE, if that makes a difference
