tabarak'Allah, zat was hectic. No notes so rough summary off top of head, probably forgotton loads:
MK went over 2 sins from amongst the major sins; shirk with Allah and obeying ones parents.
The first is mainly aimed at elders who think they arent doing shikr but they are and the second was aimed at the youth who switch at the elders yet they dont obey their parents.
Allah forgives all sins EXCEPT shirk [surah nisaa twice, one verse 116 and the other I cant remember]. Shirk is associating partners with Allah SWT
Many people think they arent doing shirk but they are like grave worshipping or trying to get closer to Allah SWT through these people etc.
If you commit shirk, jannah is HARAM HARAM HARAM for you, you cannot enter jannah if you die upon shirk.
Secondly the issue of birr al waliadayn and the importance. Allah SWT says in Surah Israa, rough trans: and we have ordained that you worship none but Allah and that you be kind to you parents, if one or both of them attain old age show not to them a sign of direspect but lower upon them the wings of humility and say: my lord bestow upon them mercy as they did bring me up when I was little.
This ws also thr advice of Luqman to his son as in Surah Luqman. Also he mentioned the incident of when a man came to Abdullah ibn Abbas [if Im not mistaken] and he done tawaf around the kabah with his mum on his back and he asked ibn Abbas have i repaid her? And he replied, you havnt even paid her back for one groan.
Upon narrating this story, MK got emotoinal and subhan'Allah the atmoshphere in the masjid was like ...
And then he narrated how the salaf were in the treatment of their parents and how some may see it as extreme but this is the importance of the parents. How one salaf when he would eat with his mum, he would look to see where she put her hands so he wouldnt accidently put his hands on sometihng his mother wanted.
And the hadeeth found in bukhari about the 3 men in the cave and they were told to invoke upon Allah and mention a deed they did for Allah SWT sincerely and one man mentioned how he came home with milk to give to his mum and he found her asleep so he waited all night despite him and his fam being hungry he waited all night just to feed his mummy.
Aand yea *smiles*
May Allah have mercy on all parents and enter them all into jannah.

This is what ive typed up so far..takes time, bcos have to look up ayahs etc but inshaAllah wil post rest another time..
Notes are usually quite brief, main point--so ive expanded a lil bit to help u understand, jus added pretty words etc.
Major sins notes..
Began talk mentioning some major sins and there are many that we are aware of, but time doesn’t permit to go into all. He mentioned Shirk and Sihr (black magic) being major sins, and that sihr is a kabeera because the only way to doing the acts of b.magic is by commiting shirk.
At times, minor sins become major sins-any time that a minor sin is repeated it becomes a major sin
EG. Shaving (men) is a minor sin but if repeated then t becomes a major
ALSO many ppl think some sins to be ‘small’ however don’t realise, such as Gheeba (backbiting) is actually a major sin.
Then shaykh said that he wants to focus on 2 important aspects which are important for us, namely: Shirk (associating partners with Allah) and ‘Birr-ul-waalidayn’(gdness to parents). The former being something that affects elders particularly bcos sometimes do certain things that constitute shirk but may not realise and the latter was focussed at the youth who often neglect this important duty, with their main initiative being to have the correct aqeedah and not giving any due concern to their manners of speech with parents and people in general.
Let us begin with Shirk, however the 2 are inter-twined, as will become apparent very shortly::
Allah says in the Quran Surah Number: 17, Ayah Number: 23
Your Lord has ordered you to worship none except Him, and to be good to your parents
We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. (29:8).
(As mentioned earlier, brother highlighted the ‘misnomer’ amongst youth of today that as long as ‘long as theyre upon aqeedah then don’t care what they’re like with people’. But shaykh suggested a ‘defect’ in the aqeedah, for surely having good aqeedah leads to having good character)
Shirk can be manifested in many ways such as people asking dead individuals in their graves to help them etc, quran quote:
“Allah (swt) says: Surah Number: 4, Ayah Number: 60
Have you not seen those who claim that they believe in what has been sent down to you and what was sent down before you? They desire to be judged by the idol, although they have been commanded to disbelieve it. But satan desires to lead them astray into far error.
Every nation was sent a messenger that told people to worship Allah and stay away from Taghoot.
In surah Nisa, dnt knw which ayah..BUT to the nearest meaning: Allah says that if you commit any sin, HE will forgive you for it but If you commit shirk and come to Allah with it (ie. die upon that) then wont be forgiven…
and have strayed far away from Allah
Shirk takes you far away from Allah it is like you are falling away from heavens.
Many people think they are ‘too sinful’ and need to go to ‘good’ people to ask them to help etc (saints, awliya) etc but this is frm Christianity…whereas we are told to ask from Allah directly.
He said something about every believer becoming an awliya..didnt get the whole sentence
And we are told to worship Allah until ‘yaqeen’ comes to you-which is death.
******
Plz correct if any mistakes..ne gd is frm Allah and any evil frm me n shaytaan..
to be continued...!

Theres 2 instances in Surah Nisaa, firstly verse 48: Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.
And then same surah, verse 116: Verily! Allah forgives not setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away.

Um this is the next part of the notes::
We must strive in the way of Allah to get close to Him and through His obedience, this can be achieved-by waseela (to make a request of supplicate through a means, such as due to one having performed a certain good deed is permissible and supported by the Hadith of Sahih Bukhari in which three people were trapped in a cave. with the names and attributes of Almighty Allah: This is also permissible and is supported by the following verse, ‘And Allah has beautiful names, so call unto Him through them.’ (Surah A’araaf v.180).(1)
..hence there is only 1 path to Allah
This bit is very interesting: In the quran, on many occasions the Prophet salAllahu’alayhi wa sallam is asked questions, such as the Quraysh about various things such as wine and the spirit(soul) etc, and Allah commands the Prophet salAllahu’alayhi wa sallam “Qul..”, meaning [Say….], for example “Qul hu wAllahu Ahad..”-[Say He is Allah The One]. So Rasoolillah is always told “fa qul…”, “then say such and such”.
However there is 1 ocassion in the quran when Allah says:
"When My worshipers ask you about Me, I am near. I answer the supplication of the suppliant when he calls to Me; therefore, let them respond to Me and let them believe in Me, in order that they will be righteous.[2:186]
So the usual ‘rule’ as such is lifted here, and its like Allah is talking directly to his servants which clearly shows that we don’t need to go to any intermediary but we should raise our hands to Almighty Allah and and ask Him.
Your Lord has said: 'Call on Me and I will answer you. Those who are too proud to worship Me shall enter Gehenna (think that means Jahannam) utterly abject.'[40:60]
Furthermore, Shirk is ‘dhulm’ meaning oppression- against one’s soul. This is because it is forbidden for the one who commits shirk to go to Jannah.
..Ustadh said that if you die commiting shirk, ‘you have just sealed your own coffin’.
In Quran hundreds of ayaat talk about worshipping Allah alone, read surah Araf..
In essence, every surah of the quran is giving the message of tawheed- worshipping Allah alone, subhaanahu wa ta’ala.
Ustadh related a story( I don’t know who/where this story is of and its authenticity etc but nevertheless interesting..) of a man who entered the fire because sacrificed a fly for other than Allah. The story was something to the effect of: a man was walking by and there was a group of people who stopped him. They asked him to sacrifice something, to which he replied that he had nothing to sacrifice. They suggested he sacrifice a fly, and so he did—and for this he was cast into Janhannam!
A second man walked by and likewise he was asked to make a sacrifice, he also had nothing and he refused to sacrifice a fly-as a result was taken to Jannah!
The prophet saw said to us Not to take his (saws) grave as a place of worship as the Christians took the grave of Isa alayhis-salaam.
Numerous times in the Quran, Allah says that “If you claim to love Allah, then follow Prophet”… Allah Ta’ala addresses His Prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihe wasallam), “Say, (O Muhammad to mankind): If you love Allah, follow me and Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.”
Many other ayahs such as [4:80], and the hadith (dnt think MK said this..mayb he did, but jus thought id add) in Muslim where Prophet saw said that in order to taste sweetness of emaan there are 3 things; of which 1st is to love Allah and His messenger more than any(thing/one) else.
….So this kinda shows that immediately after loving Allah we must love prophet….which as Allah commands is by following him and his teachings and sunnah etc..
**************
Thats it for now, the Gdness to parents will have to wait inshaAllah...
its a bit scary putting up notes bcos you dnt want 2 say anything incorrect--but ive tried level best to write just what ustadh mentioned and just try explain a lil bit....cos i cant remember the exact words he used to explain..
PLZ correct any mistakes...and any gd is frm Allah alone and mistakes frm meee and shaytaan!
