If any blood relation to the baby has schizophrenia, then avoid taking paracetamol or any other cold/flu remedies at all. There appears to be a link between flu in pregnancy and scizophrenia (when there is also a genetic predisposition) however docs are not sure if its the flu itself, or rememdies taken for flu, that are responsible for the link. There are many other different factors that have been implicated in whether a genetically predisposed individual develops schizophrenia... good diet during pregnancy, especially one thats high in omega oils and choline (another good fat) ... plus being in a secure loving environment with a good diet in infancy and early childhood are all believed to lower the risk.
