i have recently been speaking to a gentleman who claims that he is willing to marry when he arrives back from hajj upon speaking to his parents. prior to us getting to this stage his brother had told me he was married, when i confronted gentleman he said that is not married, my best friend has also said that he is married as he attended his wedding, but no one has provided any solid proof. i again confronted gentleman he swore on the haram shareef that he is not married but was only engaged. what can i do to find out the trust, who should i believe ?,

:salams im not sure how u got into this situation ukhti, but u shouldnt have best freinds who are men, or be speaking to men about marriage alone, send any man to your walli, or if you are a revert then u must ask your local imam to be your walli, and check this brother out ,and see if he is genuine, it seems a very strange situation and the character of a man is so important so your walli will ask around about him to his freinds, meet with his family and ask them about him and so on. Islam has given women protection from unscrupulous men, so seek refuge in Allah in al Islam, and do things islamically insha Allah.
