... Is anyone else here a hardcore Final Fantasy fan here?

I've completed ff6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and am playing 12 but stopped cos' I'm in my final year now... Don't wanna mess it up over a game!

But yeh... Lets make this a discussion on your fave final fantasy!

Mine has to be Final Fantasy 7, ff8 comes close honestly, the junction system is really original and can produce some super characters... But ff7 has much more appeal and a better storyline (the time compression thing in ff8 never really amazed me :p )

so yeh! Discuss your favourite Final Fantasy Games!!

oo we're doing it like that now are we?

Lol, in that case:

1) Donkey Kong Country, Super Nintendo, (no I don't wanna here any argument, its the best game EVER). The graphics for its time were supreme (1994!) the ideas used were excellent, the soundtrack very well fitted the theme, the storyline was simple and to the point, and the overall 'coolness' of the game was brilliant, and completing it 101% (or 102 dont remember I only just finished it completely last summer holiday) made it unique! Phew!

2) Final Fantasy 7 / Final fantasy 8, playstation 1. to be hoenst I really really can't decide between the two, ff8 had more fun sidequests, ff7 had overall much better character and battle system (although ff8 junction was so cool), the card game in ff8 is so so wicked, then again raising chocobos in ff7 was more fun. Omega and Ultima weapons looked cooler in ff8, but there were more 'weapon based' monsters in ff7... so its like aaah can't decide! FF7... no Ff8!... Ok fine ff7! (The fact that the ultima weapon and other weapons were part of the storyline (e.g. diamond weapon) definitely made it better))

3) in my opinion 3 different games on 3 systems are battling it out for this place so its - 3).1 : Metal Gear Solid, Playstation 1
- 3).2 : Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Playstation 2
- 3).3 : Goldeneye, Nintendo 64

3).1: Graphics were brilliant (although of course compared to mgs2 the characters looked silly but hey for ps1 the effects used were really cool), the storyline had so many twists which made it soooo excellent, the sneaking techniques able to be used were really cool (of course more advanced in mgs2 and 3, but mgs1 was the first to use knocking on walls and doors to distract guards and using a carboard box! I think...) And the final battle with Metal Gear Rex is unbeatable in terms of action - to be honest I measure this in terms of how good it was for its time, obviously the metal gear ray battle in mgs2 is more action packed cos' you're fighting 3 of them!!)

3).2: Very, very, very good gameplay, the camoflague aspect? - pure genius. The fact you can slap on some paint and hide within the bushes, and guards can come so close to you and not notice you, and then suddenly notice you adds to the action of the game cos' you neevr know when you cuold get caught! Also being able to eat almost anything around you and the survival techniques used are really good

3).3: Oh boy, this game! Was so addictive, and I still play it cos' I still havent completed it on 00 agent! (I'm pathetic I know...). Very good graphics for its time, the range of weapons was very very vast for a first-person shooter, and the cheat mode was a lot of fun!

Ok... Well there's my little review... Looks like this may become a general game discussion thread!

lol, well ok this will now become a general game thread:

anyone who plays Tekken 5 DR in London, and uses the card character system, look out for a Paul character called 'Unite The Ummah' - thats me!

Street fighter - SF3 is well cool although im more into marvel vs capcom (partly cos ive hardly player sf3, all the sf2s are well cool)

If you wanna talk classic beat em ups why not mortal kombat and killer instinct? :p

btw, anyone remember a certain game called "Eternal Champions" ? it was this game on the genesis i remember playing more than a decade ago. it was pretty awesome from what I remember, and it was the only other game that had fatalities and blood.

never heard of eternal champions unfortunately...

But what do u mean mk3 was the best? UMK3 was much better and MK trilogy was definitely the best! then again they're practically the same lol...

Anyone remember UN Squadron on the SNES? 2D plane fighting game one of those 2 D plane shooters classic game

Another random game I love is Worms for the PC - In fact I'm off guys to play some Worms World Party - got it for only a fiver last year and still play it!

UN Squadron was my first game on the SNES , lovely game. i loved picking the fatter character...u know the one with buldgy face (i forgot his name). I believe he was wearing all green... his weapons upgrades were pretty cool. i loved that desert stage....

and when I mentioned MK3, UMK is included aswell. it's basically incremental upgrades. not something dramatically different like from MK1 -> MK2...though I must say, MK2 was off the hook aswell. I still remember reptile's stage, it was cool.

I've played FF1, 4, 5 and 6. So do I count?:D I would have loved to play the others as well but never had a Playstation. I did play some of FF8 but it stopped working like half-way through. Anyways, my favourite one would have to be FF 6: one of the best games on the SNES. But the top spot for that would have to be Shining Force.

dude you can get a ps1 for like £20 nowadays and ff7 for another tenner, same with ff8 (although make sure you get a chipped one and buy the ntsc version! PAL is tooo slow and annoying :( )

As for Zelda Ocarina fo time, indeed, that game was brilliant, I STILL haven't found all the golden skultullas to this day! (WIll have to use a guide next summer :p )

Majora's Mask is pretty cool as well but I've only played through a bit of it, although the concept in the game is rerally really cool (consistently going back and forth through time so you can maange it all in 3 days is pretty cool)

Everyone here has to just love Resident Evil right? (1 was alright, but 2 and 3 were awesome!)

Unfortunately I don't live in the UK. I suppose I could get my hands on a PS down here, but finding FF7 would be a different story.

Yeah. :) But I'm kinda over those kind of games now. I much prefer multiplayer games where you play against other humans instead of a computer. So nowadays I pretty much only play Dota.

sorry but bump, guys this thread needs to be kept alive and inshallah make it to a sticky one day!

Another excellent game: Area 51 for the ps2

really really good first person shooter, funny twists and really cool movie sequences (including dave duchovny from the x files). The A.I. is pretty good too! Second level an alien suddenly pulls out an uzi (I think uzi) and starts shooting! And they hide and jump at you etc etc.

anyone played it?
