We have 2 wonderful celebrations of Eid al Adha and Eid al fitr, as a convert I try very hard to build a love of these days in my childrens hearts, we never celebrated anything as a kid, so I want my children to have positive experiences on their Eids inshaallah, heres what we do to make it fun.....
Every child wakes to find a tissue paper package of sweets on their bed, and balloons all over the floor of their room, their eid clothes laid out.
I make cinnamon buns or snicker doodles and hot chocolate for breakfast(or anything else yummy!)
They get gifts from us toys/games/books and we try to keep an islamic theme.
after the eid salah we go visiting and then either go out to eat(which is a treat )or come home for a nice meal, some Eid days we go on a trip into london or to the cinema to make the day special.
heres a link to some printables for your kids to try,
what do u guys do for eid, how do u make it special for your children?

 Wow what a great MOM!! I know your kids are :inlove: with you. Insha Allah this year will be just as great as all the others.
Insha Allah I will have to take a page from your book when I have some little ones of my own.
any hadith to say what our prophet (pbuh) used to do on eid with children?

Umm Bilal
you have some wonderful ideas for eid and i agree we should all make it memorable for them so they can carry it on when they are grown ups.
just a few ideas of my own, some from experience some i would like to try:
.even though kids get hugged a hundred times during a day, there is no special feelling than after getting dressed and when men retturn from eid salah, to embrace with (and the kids with each other) and say EID MUBARAK.
.As kids the EIDY(cash given instaed of/alongside presents) we used to get filled us with joy.eid only comes twice a year make the kids feel special by gving them some money even if its a fiver for each.
.you are most likely to ring ppl in the morning to say Eid Greetings, how about giving kids the chance to do that too.Allow them to ring family, friends or someone they know.
.If you have a muslim in your locality, allow the kids to take them a plate/tray decorated with food items you have specially prepared for eid.
These are ideas which are practised already by people around the world.I would be happy to include small things like these in my eid celebrations from different cultures and countries around the world. It would just be so much fun!!!
what do u mean what would u suggest?
i just mean, what did the prophet (pbuh) do on this special occasion? i have nothing to suggest, i simply want to know what the prophet (pbuh) did. that is it. :coolbro:

i've found that when the kids have a great eid, i have a great eid. we make a big fuss when it comes to eid! :inlove: love eid soooo much!
We have the whole family round (which is huge alhamdulillah) and we split up in teams - adults and kids and have an islamic quiz. With prizes, you'd be surprised that the adults and children get just as involved in this and it is a lot of fun. In addition to various other things.
Eid at your place sounds lovely Umm Bilal :)

One thing is to give children money. This is something that is practiced in many Muslim countries.
