Whats wrong with the 3-weel buggy? they look ok. and abt telliing ppl wat to get. Same with us - if they close we tell em you get this and you get that but if they distant then make do with the 5r and cheesy mubarakan:D
no to the 3wheelers, i have no sympathy for mothers that i see struggling on the buses and streets with these things, dont get me started when they try and cross the road with those, the front wheel is like half a mile in front i.e. in the road  i jus think, "who told u to go buy that anyway" fashion:rolleyes:
avoid at all costs.
P.S. its not a fiver anymore, its £20 any less and u look like a scrooge, we should be able to give what we want *sad face*

sis have you pushed one? their smaller then conventional pushchairs, easy to manovere and get into small spaces and ever so easy to fold and carry cos their lighter hence the design! :)
Plus if your wife goes out she wont have much problems with it in comparision to conventional ones and its not a bad price either
:o i love those 3 wheelers. Theyre excellent. Dont know which ones youve been seeing/moving around sis, cos the ones ive pushed little nieces and nephews around in are soo damn convinient and easy.

Mg can u recommend which ones u think are more convenient and easy to take around then? especially for ppl who do not hav a car and will have to resort to use bus/tube if going further than walking distance?
Actually ne1 who has a pushchair/pram/buggy/whatever which u found really good, can u tell me which shop and which model it is... I mean ones people have actually used and found them convenient.
Someone told me dnt get ones with pneumatic (sp?) wheels, cos they puncture?

They look a little retarded, but are defently more maneuvaroubleableable then the traditional pushchairs.
But i dont like the massive front wheel, you cant easily store something like that in a small sized boot or in your back seat - when your going day tripping or on holiday... I even had problems with my 4 wheeler when i go day tripping.. fitting it amongst other things int he car.
their god damn revelutionary!
Never use a conventional one if you can help it!
and they look ugly and how about the wheel half a mile in front of you when your crossing the road,it sticks out like a sore thumb - dangerous

We'll see. That one that muslimah85 put up - seems reasonable price and looks okay. I dunno what experience you've had but whenerv I've seen people coming onto tram or bus with them they seem really easy to move around cos the one front wheel is easier to direct than 2 wheels?

sis whichever pushcahir u get it will be hard putiing it on bus and tube, the three wheeler it lighter, narrower and easier to use esp on the tube
those type of buggies are terrible u see newborns sitting up in them like a sack of spuds no support for their bodies and legs squashed together in the middle, so their spines are bent to one side, newborns should lay down flat till they have enough muscle strength to support themselves in a sitting up position. their little bones and spines are growing and forming, same with the shoe thing, dont put shoes on little babies only soft booties i`ve looked after a few little toddlers who have deformed toes from being crammed into baby size addidas trainers cos they " look so sweet" :(

i bought something like this
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3760543/Trail/C%24cip%3D1500009551.Baby%2Band%2Bnursery%3EC%24ci p%3D1500009566.Pushchairs.htm
but i got it half the price from general baby shops that were local to me, u can get these in different makes, not jus mamas and papas. Make sure u can adjust the back of the seat , so baby can lie down or sit up, obviously wen its new born it will always be down for baby to keep straight.
its suitable from birth, easy to manourvere, doesnt take a lot space on the bus i.e. when u have to move for someone else to fit there too (yes im obsessed with buses and buggies), easy to pack away, doesnt take to much space and it lasts till they are able to walk, if not longer.

Like we always say (apologies is anyone is offended in adavnced but its actually a compliment :p ) if the Jewish mothers in my area have one, then it must be darn good, cos they have loads of lil kiddies and manage to use it for every single kid without it breaking apart or looking tatty :p
So guess which one I bought? Yup, a Maclaren :D
By FAR the best pushchair I have ever seen, and for those who are looking and buying big NONO. You need to go in the store, and try it out.
Fold it up, unfold it, try it with one hand (or little finger lol :p ), check reclining positions, lift it up to get idea of weight, zoom around the store with it to see how well it manoeveres, cos some stores have no space for buggies and you really have to squeeze through. See how much basket space there is, and if its enough. Despite what everyone says, you WILL use the basket and load it up with millions of things so it is essential. Measure it folded up (length) to see if it will fit in the boot of your car. And so on.

Jane travel system with carseat... I think the carseat was the matrix model (can lie flat in the back of the car inshaAllah) - the pushchair model is the four wheeler one... model is called classic pro
I used it with the car seat as a pram for the first five months, then as a buggy from 5 months cause Ruqayya could sit up on her own mashaAllah
I think on the whole its better with a car than public transport - though with the newer buses where you don't ahve to fold it up to get on mashaAllah its fine. Its very sturdy for walking everywhere mashaAllah, and light  (its heavier as a pram with the car seat though) - the car seat can be in four positions as a pram, but just two (flat and upright) as a car seat. Its good though cause if you have a newborn on a long journey in the car its bad for their back to be sitting up too long inshaAllah. Was fine on the train too, in the section with the doors between where the seats are - plus you helped me on the London underground with it that time remember... up n down the escalators with my pushchair lol :p
There are lots of good ones though... if you're going to be using a lot of public transport where you have to fold up the buggy, inshaAllah get a recommendation from someone that does that a lot inshaAllah.
It's also good offroad, it has this thing you can push to stop the front wheels swivelling for when you're on grass or a footpath through countryside mashaAllah. And it manoevers well  (better with front wheels set to swivel but still pretty well with them fixed too inshaAllah)
Also the rain covers that come with it (one for the car seat/pram, the other for the ordinary buggy) are excellent, the buggy one has a big flap at the front that can hooked up or be velcro'd down so you can open it up inside shops and also get baby in and out without undoing the whole thing mashaAllah. Though you have to buy those separately - they are worth it though inshaALlah.

lol yeh i remember that, but on the escalators it was not easy. i cnt do that by myself!!! stupid tubes, do they need to put so many stairs and escalators

I added in a couple of edits. But take zee's advice about testdriving it round the shop. Very important. I got mine on a friend's recommendation so I got to test drive hers round town innit :D but its very important...! what suits one person doesn't suit another inshaAllah. Plus if you are going to go by tube or bus a lot, you need inshaAllah to get opinions of mothers who tube and bus a lot inshaAllah

sis the one i had, i cant find it anywhere online
but it was very similar to the link i posted, as long as it takes FROM newborn onwards, its ok,as sis asiya said, make sure u can change the seat positioning, to support their back, i.e. the one in the link i posted (not the double buggy one!) has 4 different seat postions it can go to, i found these types of buggies easy to manourvre and easy to pack away, no problems alhumdulillah and you can buy separate cosy toes and raincovers with it which doesnt cost much at all.
The only thing i didnt like was that the baby wasnt facing me when im out and about, so i had to keep checking if he is ok, or sometimes a member of the public would say, his shoe fallen off :( thsi is obviously only when the hood is up, when its down its ok, u can see the baby.
What i have noticed with some of these buggies is that now they have a pastic see-through peephole at the top of the hood,so that when it is up, u can still look in and see baby, so lokout and see if you can spot those ones, ill keep an eye out as well!

btw i said in my post about the jane classic pro about using the carseat/pram for the first five months.... without the pram it can be used from birth mashaAllah cause it lies flat..... just the pram seemed more sturdy for a newborn baby, plus it was getting towards winter so easier to wrap up baby in blankets in a pram type thing (the car seat has this pram type cover in the reclining positions) - plus easier to move the baby in the carseat from the pushchair chassis to the car. But if you don't use the car seat with it, and just have the pushchair, you can still use it from newborn inshaAllah.
The carseats that are not part of a travel system I think are better inshaAllah - the jane matrix one in sitting position was too upright for when baby falls asleep (when older, when younger she was lying down in the back anyway) - since moving to Saudi we shipped one that was from birth to 4 that can be rear or forward facing but is just a car seat - that is more comfy for Ruqayya and rear facing is less upright mashaAllah, so she can fall asleep without her head flopping forward mashaAllah.

salaams to all
so many different prams out there! and half of them all look the same to me or look too huge!
im ok about getting a cot as it was much simpler to choose, just needed one with a dropside.
but prams!! so confusing, ive been to look around a few times and get a headache each time.
can anyone recommend a good pram, thats easy to fold , will fit into my smallish car boot and thats affordable. baby is due in october inshallah.

There are so many prams but one thats small and not too expensive is the Mamas and Papas Luna or Luna Mix. Inshallah this is the one i'm going to get. Travel systems are much too large and heavy for me.
http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/range/luna/2409/
i worked in kid's department and sold strollers and can tell you not to go for the 3 wheels, theyre so heavy and difficult to fold.
go to the store and try each one out, thats the best way to find out which u r most comfortable with because wats good for someone else might not be for you, you know?

i got this one
http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-pliko-pramette-polka/1857830/type-i/
i think its quite good, but it does not fld thattt small
u can go in the shop & tel ur requirements & they help u. i kno with mamas & papas they even giv u an appointment if u want 2 go 4 advice (they offered it 2 me but i didnt do it, i think its free tho)
also if u get some baby magazines they do reviews on the best products & things. i wil try 2 hav a look for u if they mentioned ne is good for folding small & what u mentioned
I recommend Stokke even though i'm yet to become a mother. This is based on what my cousins have had, its a very very good pram and very stylish and reviews have been excellent for this for the most part. Your baby is quite high up and therefore will be quite close to you.
You can see it here: http://www.backinaction.co.uk/xplory. They are quite expensive though and the full package with everything (dont think one would need everything) would set one back around £1000.
Otherwise if not that then i'd also say that Quinny and Britax do very good prams aswell which are not as expensive.

Does anybody wear their baby in a sling? I want to but I think it may make my jilbab look tight coz you have to wrap them over...
i hav got this
http://www.babaslings.co.uk/
i have not used it that many times, its a bit heavy to carry him like that but it can b useful, even for in the house if they wont let u put them down then sometimes if u put them in sling u can atleast have both ur hands free if u need to do some housework. also i think if i need to go on tube at anytime, i wil have to take sling because otherwise not sure how u can use with all the escalators + pram :S
as for making jilbab look tight, that shape of sling doesnt seem to do that imo because u dnt wrap it u just put it like over ur shoulder. the ones with alot of fabric that u wrap tightly round, they probly will.

i hav got this
http://www.babaslings.co.uk/
i have not used it that many times, its a bit heavy to carry him like that but it can b useful, even for in the house if they wont let u put them down then sometimes if u put them in sling u can atleast have both ur hands free if u need to do some housework. also i think if i need to go on tube at anytime, i wil have to take sling because otherwise not sure how u can use with all the escalators + pram :S

:jkk: Thats more what i'm looking for. Although the wrap around ones look v.comfortable, specially with distributing the babies weight. I might see if there is any way to try them on and see how they sit...I use public transport so dont want to always be using the buggy.
salamz all
so do those baby sling things make the baby more used to be carried around? anyone have experience or stories about tht? cuz it seems so much more practical than lugging a stroller around but im afraid tht it makes the baby be more adept to being picked up all the time.

I dno it makes them attached but back home in africa women carry their children on their backs with wrappers, my mum did it with us and it gets babies to sleep so easy and they are close to you, which is why I wanna get some kind of sling/

ohh i think i didnt kno ur preg, mabrook sis. insha allah baby wil not keep u waiting long past ur due date!
have not used that pram, but it does look quite small/compact which i think will b good mine is so big which gets really annoying. altho can u lie them proper flat in that one or only put them in the car seat type thing? that is what would put me off if u cant keep them flat, well if ur gonna use it alot. but alot of ppl do keep them like that and its okay, so up to u really :p
hubby and I did the test drive pram/pushchair thing.. went mothercare, baby's 'r' us etc.. saw a travel system (plus all the extra accessories for free as part of the deal) we liked and got it cheaper off the internet.
Yes u need to test drive b4 u buy :p
Blumming nightmare buying baby stuff! :smack: and how come noone ever warns you that everything is sssoo darn expensive?!?! (ok everything that i/we like anyway) :p
Theres so much to think about! Prams and car seats and cots and rah rah rah!

zesty but insha allah u can probly use the pram n stuff for the next one aswel, unless it gets too mashed up with use...
what pram u like?
try to wait a bit n see they might reduce. like the pram we got now they reduced it so cheap, and the other one we liked before it was £599 now its about half of the price. just wen they are newer out they put stupid price on it :s

:rotfl: WHAT is it with you people?!!? all i get from people is how i can use everything inshaAllah for the next one! I havent even had the first one yet :p loooll
Well anyway, i really love your one :o i saw it on the website before i saw the link to the one you have. Ofcourse looking at UK websites is pointless for me cos i have to buy my stuff from here. (I miss shopping in the UK- seriously dont realise how wide our options are)!
Its not bad (prices seem about the same, if not slightly more expensive in the UK) but we dont seem to have as much variety or choice. Also, i dont like bulky pushchairs so i want something that folds up quite nicely but one thats quite padded and comfortable. Husby and i went to a baby expo today- i think weve found something we like (make called pre prego or summat like that) and its a pushchair with a car seat- which is what we are looking for.
We did buy a camping cot yesterday :inlove: its ssoo cute!

Yeh well i never realised they did but my sister in law told us about it. It was abit rubbish to be honest. Literally no freebies, quite small and mainly focused on existing babies/children rather than expectant mothers.
Let me see if i can find a pic of it. Im annoyed now, wish id just bought it when i saw it.
