Asalaam alaikum,
yes i know its me again but dont run away! *grin*
i have loads of video clips on my mobile, so i transferred them to my PC, i think they used to play with Quicktime but cant be 100%, anywho, i have just had a re-installation done and now those video clips do not work.
I installed Quicktime again but they still do not work and i get an error message, whats going on? how do make them work again?
i would hate to lose them *sad face*

sounds like u have .3gp files, and quicktime used to play the .3gp files, but now it's missing the codec , so u are unable to view the .3gp files.
u have 2 choices sis:
1) get the codec for quicktime to view it. usually quicktime downloads a codec if it's missing. i don't know if u ever recieved those and clicked "cancel" or something? if so then it didn't install it. I would say, grab the latest quicktime from www.apple.com/quicktime incase u don't have it.
or
2) use VLC , it'll play anything you throw at it: www.videolan.org

get vlc as bro belal said. it plays near enough all audio and video files. better than getting a separate player for each of your different audio and video files...

you probably have audio codes missing then. get this (http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/How_to_play_3GP.htm) and choose amr and then retry with vlc. this + vlc = good all round audio video player.

that link does not work. go to that website and click the download ffdshow part and download the first one.
install as normal. you might be able to choose amr while installing, if not, open ffdshow and go into the options and choose amr.

that one? becos while installing ,when it gave me an option to select the components i want, AMR was not one of them ...

Well its a package of codecs..including all tht ffshow tingy majigy.
Just dload it as its complete package and ia see if it does the trick

its not going to mess up my PC is it becos someone checked it last time and said they dont like the K-lite thingy cos its not good for PC?:rubeyes:

errm underneath it, it says "sexual video" thats not anything to with what im downloading is it :rubeyes::rubeyes::confused:

underneath what? i left everything under custom. basically sis with this codec pack i can watch all divx files, and even mobile phone clips.

u can get either. the difference is that the second link is a mirror of the first.
all the other ones are a little optimized for specific processors. but it wouldn't matter if u just get the first one. here's the direct link:

i uninstalled vlc, d/l'ed ffdshow and then tried to play the clip via WMP but it doesnt play at all in there

and then installed the haali media splitter. leave everything on default, and just make sure mp4 support is selected (or ticked as u UK people say). then open it with windows media player.

bhai I have WMP 11 (the latest one for XP, the one in black). It didn't work for me for some reason. I had to install both FFD and haali media splitter. My cousin who uses wmp 10, also had to do that (install both), and FFD alone didn't work for him.

i wonder why it is working for me? i only recently did a fresh xp install. all i have installed on my xp box is this:
.net 2.0 and 3.5
vs.net 2008 express
sql server 2005 express
comando firewall
avg
and other basics like drivers for motherboard, graphics, sound etc etc. thats it.

that is the problem bro, you should just need 1 think, the appropriate codec. it works for me, but not for anyone else...
