people posted on temp forum,

people wnated posts from temp forum on this forum when it returned

so sajid imported all the messages from the temp forum to here

and everyone who posted on that forum had imported added to the beginnig of their name cos otherwise it wouldnt have worked or sumthing

so sajid set up a new temporary forum, where all the ummah users went.

Most registered with the same user names on the temp forum.

Because the upgrade took longer than expected, people had quite a large number of posts on the temp forum ,and there were some good threads too.

So rather than let them just disappear, Sajid dedided to import them into this forum.

I think it musta been complicated or sumthing, because he had to add imported to everyones usernames so that the system wouldnt get confused,

So any members who signed up on the temp forum, have imported before their usernames

hope that was better :D

ibn suls post has a few errors in it, the actual story is this,

Ummah.coms server crashed and so the forum went offline, sajid spent countless hours trying to fix it but to no avail, after a coupla days sajid made a duplicate ummah.com which he hosted by mpadc.com and redirected http://www.ummah.com/forum to that forum, so anyone trying to access ummah.com will be redirected there automatically.

I was the 2nd or 3rd person to register there after sajid, Veilofmysoul beat me by a few seconds in posting the first post there :nono:

Anyway this downtime took quite a while, about a month or so, so naturally the forum had accumulated several thousand posts, and so people made a bit of a fuss when sajid said people should say bye bye to everything cos it's going to vanish into thin air once this forum comes back, they complained until he ended up having to save all the posts and users and stuff and add it to this forums database.

sajid tried to contact baba (the system admin) unall and eventually they ended up buying a new faster server and then sajid again struggled for a few days trying to reload the database and then trying to copy all the threads and posts from the temp forum over to here, and also to copy all the users from there as well, but since many people registered using the same name that they had here it wasn't possible to copy them accross because that name already existed, and so sajid put 'imported' in front of everyones name that has the same name here, but those who had different names like RaNdOm and bint and Al-Irhaab and ur yusra and alld etc etc etc (i'm not gonna tell you what their temp names were, that's fer me ta know and for you to never find out :rotfl: ) so their temp accounts have proper names and not imported so and so, in short only those who had duplicate names became imported.

Then after this forum came back to life sajid made an offer to all criminals that were banned here and then registered on the temp forum, he'll give them a second chance, they had to just make a helpdesk ticket with their name(s) and he'd merge their accounts into, i was one such 'criminal', i had 3 (or 4 :scratch:) accounts merged, by doing that my previous names disappeared and so if i wanted to i could have been "abu musab" again, but i chose to stick with "Abu Mus'ab", so all my posts and reps and pm's unall came together into this one account of mine, that's why you wont find an imported Abu Musab, though if you do a search you will come across posts where people had quoted me while my name was still that (prior to my merging) but the account imported Abu Musab doesn't exist anymore.

another thing that happened on the temp forum was that sajid set everyones reps to -100 (i think, it cuda been less) and so it was quite an ordeal for everyone to get into the green again, i think Omar was the first to become green, Irfan GBH as well, at one point each one of them was the 'rep king' even though they only had 7 rep points :rotfl:

I was still the one who made the random thread and the missing thread on that forum :rotfl:
