[UQP] Surah Sajdah ~ The Prostration

In the name of Allah, the All Aware, the Preserver

Surah Sajdah, surah number 32. contains a ayah of prostration in it and also funnily enough, called prostration.

Before we begin, we should seek refuge in Allah from shaitaan the outcast and purify our intentions to be solely for Allah SWT.

We decided to go back to 2 ayahs a day insha'Allah due to the surah being short and to make it easier for everyone. No other posts in here, just the ayaats. The ayaats will be posted, 2 ayatayn in arabic, the english tranlisterated below and then once again, the english translated below that and, and the 2 ayahs broken up from Salah Bukhatir for memorisation and tajweed [put this on your MP3 player and listen over and over]

Also, arabic word from each ayah will be highlighted in ahmar and the corresponding word in english highlighted in red aswell. This is for 2 reasons; to try to teach even a little bit of arabic and also, if you know the meaning of the keywords in the ayah, its easier to memorise the ayah.

'Alif-Lām-Mīm

تَنزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Tanzīlu Al-Kitābi Lā Rayba Fīhi Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna
The revelation of the Book is from the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists) in which there is not doubt!

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ بَلْ هُوَ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّا أَتَاهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ

'Am Yaqūlūna Aftarāhu Bal Huwa Al-Ĥaqqu Min Rabbika Litundhira Qawmāan Mā 'Atāhum Min Nadhīrin Min Qablika La`allahum Yahtadūna
Or say they: "He (Muhammad SAW) has fabricated it?" Nay, it is the truth from your Lord, that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you (O Muhammad SAW), in order that they may be guided.


اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
Allāhu Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā Fī Sittati 'Ayyāmin Thumma Astawá `Alá Al-`Arshi Mā Lakum Min Dūnihi Min Wa Līyin Wa Lā Shafī`in 'Afalā Tatadhakkarūna
Allah it is He Who has created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them in six Days. Then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). You (mankind) have none, besides Him, as a Walee (protector or helper etc.) or an intercessor. Will you not then remember (or be admonished)?

يُدَبِّرُ الْأَمْرَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ

Yudabbiru Al-'Amra Mina As-Samā'i 'Ilá Al-'Arđi Thumma Ya`ruju 'Ilayhi Fī Yawmin Kāna Miqdāruhu 'Alfa Sanatin Mimmā Ta`uddūna

He arranges (every) affair from the heavens to the earth, then it (affair) will go up to Him, in one Day, the space whereof is a thousand years of your reckoning (i.e. reckoning of our present worlds time).


ذَلِكَ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Dhālika `Ālimu Al-Ghaybi Wa Ash-Shahādati Al-`Azīzu Ar-Raĥīmu

That is He, the AllKnower of the unseen and the seen, the AllMighty, the Most Merciful.

الَّذِي أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ وَبَدَأَ خَلْقَ الْإِنسَانِ مِن طِينٍ

Al-Ladhī 'Aĥsana Kulla Shay'in Khalaqahu Wa Bada'a Khalqa Al-'Insāni Min Ţīnin

Who made everything He has created good, and He began the creation of man from clay.


ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُ مِن سُلَالَةٍ مِّن مَّاءٍ مَّهِينٍ

Thumma Ja`ala Naslahu Min Sulālatin Min Mā'in Mahīnin

Then He made his offspring from semen of worthless water (male and female sexual discharge).

ثُمَّ سَوَّاهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَارَ وَالْأَفْئِدَةَ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

Thumma Sawwāhu Wa Nafakha Fīhi Min Rūĥihi Wa Ja`ala Lakumu As-Sam`a Wa Al-'Abşāra Wa Al-'Af'idata Qalīlāan Mā Tashkurūna

Then He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him the soul (created by Allah for that person), and He gave you hearing (ears), sight (eyes) and hearts. Little is the thanks you give!


وَقَالُوا أَئِذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَئِنَّا لَفِي خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ بَلْ هُم بِلِقَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَافِرُونَ

Wa Qālū 'A'idhā Đalalnā Fī Al-'Arđi 'A'innā Lafī Khalqin Jadīdin Bal Hum Biliqā'i Rabbihim Kāfirūna

And they say: "When we are (dead and become) lost in the earth, shall we indeed be recreated anew?" Nay, but they deny the Meeting with their Lord!

قُلْ يَتَوَفَّاكُم مَّلَكُ الْمَوْتِ الَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ

Qul Yatawaffākum Malaku Al-Mawti Al-Ladhī Wukkila Bikum Thumma 'Ilá Rabbikum Turja`ūna

Say: "The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls, then you shall be brought to your Lord."


وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذِ الْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُو رُؤُوسِهِمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَا أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَارْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ

Wa Law Tará 'Idhi Al-Mujrimūna Nākisū Ru'ūsihim `Inda Rabbihim Rabbanā 'Abşarnā Wa Sami`nā Fārji`nā Na`mal Şāliĥāan 'Innā Mūqinūna

And if you only could see when the Mujrimoon shall hang their heads before their Lord (saying): "Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back (to the world), we will do righteous good deeds. Verily! We now believe with certainty."



Surah Sajdah, verse 11 and 12:

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَآتَيْنَا كُلَّ نَفْسٍ هُدَاهَا وَلَكِنْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ مِنِّي لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

Wa Law Shi'nā La'ātaynā Kulla Nafsin Hudāhā Wa Lakin Ĥaqqa Al-Qawlu Minnī La'amla'anna Jahannama Mina Al-Jinnati Wa An-Nāsi 'Ajma`īna


And if We had willed, surely! We would have given every person his guidance, but the Word from Me took effect (about evildoers), that I will fill Hell with jinn and mankind together.

فَذُوقُوا بِمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا إِنَّا نَسِينَاكُمْ وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْخُلْدِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Fadhūqū Bimā Nasītum Liqā'a Yawmikum Hādhā 'Innā Nasīnākum Wa Dhūqū `Adhāba Al-Khuldi Bimā Kuntum Ta`malūna


Then taste you (the torment of the Fire) because of your forgetting the Meeting of this Day of yours, (and) surely! We too will forget you, so taste you the abiding torment for what you used to do.



Surah Sajdah, verse 13 and 14:

إِنَّمَا يُؤْمِنُ بِآيَاتِنَا الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهَا خَرُّوا سُجَّدًا وَسَبَّحُوا بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ

'Innamā Yu'uminu Bi'āyātinā Al-Ladhīna 'Idhā Dhukkirū Bihā Kharrū Sujjadāan Wa Sabbaĥū Biĥamdi Rabbihim Wa Hum Lā Yastakbirūna

Only those believe in Our Ayat, who, when they are reminded of them fall down prostrate, and glorify the Praises of their Lord, and they are not proud.

[SAJDAH!]

تَتَجَافَى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

Tatajāfá Junūbuhum `Ani Al-Mađāji`i Yad`ūna Rabbahum Khawfāan Wa Ţama`āan Wa Mimmā Razaqnāhum Yunfiqūna


Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (charity in Allahs Cause) out of what We have bestowed on them.



Surah Sajdah, verse 15 and 16:

We have hit our first sajdah, make sajdah after listening or reciting verse 15 as it is sunnah..

فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّا أُخْفِيَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

Falā Ta`lamu Nafsun Mā 'Ukhfiya Lahum Min Qurrati 'A`yunin Jazā'an Bimā Kānū Ya`malūna

No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.

فَمَن كَانَ مُؤْمِنًا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقًا لَّا يَسْتَوُونَ

'Afaman Kāna Mu'umināan Kaman Kāna Fāsiqāan Lā Yastawūna

Is then he who is a believer like him who is Fasiq (disbeliever and disobedient to Allah)? Not equal are they.



Surah Sajdah, verse 17 and 18:

أَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْمَأْوَى نُزُلًا بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

'Ammā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Falahum Jannātu Al-Ma'wá Nuzulāan Bimā Kānū Ya`malūna

As for those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them are Gardens (Paradise) as an entertainment, for what they used to do.


وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا فَمَأْوَاهُمُ النَّارُ كُلَّمَا أَرَادُوا أَن يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا أُعِيدُوا فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ

Wa 'Ammā Al-Ladhīna Fasaqū Fama'wāhumu An-Nāru Kullamā 'Arādū 'An Yakhrujū Minhā 'U`īdū Fīhā Wa Qīla Lahum Dhūqū `Adhāba An-Nāri Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tukadhdhibūna

And as for those who are Fasiqoon (disbelievers and disobedient to Allah), their abode will be the Fire, every time they wish to get away therefrom, they will be put back thereto, and it will be said to them: "Taste you the torment of the Fire which you used to deny."



Surah Sajdah, verse 19 and 20:

وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمْ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْأَدْنَى دُونَ الْعَذَابِ الْأَكْبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ


Wa Lanudhīqannahum Mina Al-`Adhābi Al-'Adná Dūna Al-`Adhābi Al-'Akbari La`allahum Yarji`ūna
And verily, We will make them taste of the near torment (i.e. the torment in the life of this world, i.e. disasters, calamities, etc.) prior to the supreme torment (in the Hereafter), in order that they may (repent and) return (i.e. accept Islam).


وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِ ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا إِنَّا مِنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ مُنتَقِمُونَ

Wa Man 'Ažlamu Mimman Dhukkira Bi'āyāti Rabbihi Thumma 'A`rađa `Anhā 'Innā Mina Al-Mujrimīna Muntaqimūna

And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, then he turns aside therefrom? Verily, We shall exact retribution from the Mujrimoon (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.).



Surah Sajdah, verse 21 and 22:

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ فَلَا تَكُن فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِّن لِّقَائِهِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ هُدًى لِّبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

Wa Laqad 'Ātaynā Mūsá Al-Kitāba Falā Takun Fī Miryatin Min Liqā'ihi Wa Ja`alnāhu Hudáan Libanī 'Isrā'īla
And indeed We gave Moosa (Moses) the Scripture (the Taurat (Torah)). So be not you in doubt of meeting him (i.e.when you met Moosa (Moses) during the night of AlIsra and AlMiraj over the heavens). And We made it (the Taurat (Torah)) a guide to the Children of Israel.


وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ

Wa Ja`alnā Minhum 'A'immatan Yahdūna Bi'amrinā Lammā Şabarū Wa Kānū Bi'āyātinā Yūqinūna

And We made from among them (Children of Israel), leaders, giving guidance under Our Command, when they were patient and used to believe with certainty in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).



Surah Sajdah, verse 23 and 24:

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

'Inna Rabbaka Huwa Yafşilu Baynahum Yawma Al-Qiyāmati Fīmā Kānū Fīhi Yakhtalifūna

Verily, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection, concerning that wherein they used to differ.


أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِي مَسَاكِنِهِمْ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ أَفَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ

'Awalam Yahdi Lahum Kam 'Ahlaknā Min Qablihim Mina Al-Qurūni Yamshūna Fī Masākinihim 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin 'Afalā Yasma`ūna

Is it not a guidance for them, how many generations We have destroyed before them in whose dwellings they do walk about? Verily, therein indeed are signs. Would they not then listen?



Surah Sajdah, verse 25 and 26:

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا نَسُوقُ الْمَاءَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ الْجُرُزِ فَنُخْرِجُ بِهِ زَرْعًا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ أَنْعَامُهُمْ وَأَنفُسُهُمْ أَفَلَا يُبْصِرُونَ'

Awalam Yaraw 'Annā Nasūqu Al-Mā'a 'Ilá Al-'Arđi Al-Juruzi Fanukhriju Bihi Zar`āan Ta'kulu Minhu 'An`āmuhum Wa 'Anfusuhum 'Afalā Yubşirūna

Have they not seen how We drive water (rain clouds) to the dry land without any vegetation, and therewith bring forth crops providing food for their cattle and themselves? Will they not then see?


وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَى هَذَا الْفَتْحُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

Wa Yaqūlūna Matá Hādhā Al-Fatĥu 'In Kuntum Şādiqīna

They say: "When will this decision be (between us and you, i.e. the Day of Resurrection), if you are telling the truth?"



Surah Sajdah, verse 27 and 28:

قُلْ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ لَا يَنفَعُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِيمَانُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ

Qul Yawma Al-Fatĥi Lā Yanfa`u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū 'Īmānuhum Wa Lā Hum Yunžarūna

Say: "On the Day of AlFath (Decision), no profit will it be to those who disbelieve if they (then) believe! Nor will they be granted a respite."


فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَانتَظِرْ إِنَّهُم مُّنتَظِرُونَ

Fa'a`riđ `Anhum Wa Antažir 'Innahum Muntažirūna

So turn aside from them (O Muhammad SAW) and await, verily they (too) are awaiting.
