We're all humans...and we all sin.... its a fact of life :(

but I feel rubbish at da moment....I'm trying so hard to keep away from a particular sin....of talking to a non mahrem....but then there's somebody else doing the same thing right infront of my face...with the same mahrem that i'm keeping away from. it kills me, coz I know its so easy for me to go back to talking to that person again....but why is it that the other person can just go and do it....I want to....and I'm finding it so hard to know that she's doing it...

Am I making sense? :( :(

AssalamuAlaykum

At the end of the day....its each man...(or woman) for themselves....so Insha'Allah keep away from the forbidden no matter what anybody else is doing. Wassalam

well you know you CANT because:

"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from Zina illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful." (Sura # 24, Ayat #30 and 31)

SO you know that you can't do such things with NON-MEHRAM from above quote

One main thing you must do to help you feel why you shouldnt do it is to REPENT keep repenting, when you see this other girl comitting that sin repent for yourself, keep saying astagfirullah, allah forgive me, astagfirullah.

This 'should' automatically make you feel guilt for that action, make you feel hatred towards that action and therefore not make you want to do that action.

say astagfirullah with so much disgust to any sin you may have comitted, this makes that sin less desirable and makes you think 'eugh..i never want to do it again!!!'

kind of like when smokers quit and then after a while even when they smell the tobacco they think 'eugh that stinks get it away from me' and they want nothing to do with tobacco.

May Allah give us the tawfiq (understanding) to preserve our haya (modesty) and keep us firm in the face of temptations, Ameen.

my approach at answering your question is going to be different than the other answers.

you asked "why cant i"

well you can! you can do whatever you want, just dont expect paradise after doing something like that. and dont expect that allah will be please when you know allah will not be pleased with that.

you asked "why shouldnt i"

you shouldn't if you do not want to end up in hell fire. if you do not want to anger allah, and you shouldnt do that if you want paradise.

you asked simple questions, i gave simple answers.

Dont do it 'cause then in the end you'll get what you want. Life is'nt about the joy of the moment. If you persevere now Allah will reward you now and in the Hereafter. As for the other person doing it, Karma will make its rounds and come to back to smack her in the face (what comes around goes around) I dont want to be mean but thats just a simple truth. And anyway everything happens for the best, so if you dont get what u want now, Allah has a plan and u will get something better (satisfaction garanteed). Life is full of choices, so if you make the right ones Allah will give you the best! :D
