Salaams, I am wondering what other brothers and sisters think of Asmaa Abol-Hamid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asmaa_Abdol-Hamid), the young Muslim Socialist who lives in Denmark.
Personally, I think she's among the few genuinely positive politicians and social workers, and she has done so much for the Muslim community there. She has certainly inspired me to continue as being both a proud socialist and Muslim, and maybe she can do the same for other brothers and sisters, Inshallah.
(also, i am wondering if registrations could be allowed, i've been wanting to for two days now)

I do not know much about her but her comments on homosexuality are dodgy. Homosexuality is not allowed and is a huge sin.
As to what she meant by her comments then i am unsure about this.

Did the prophets come to the world in the name of the socialist creed?

The prophets didn't come with monarchies, capitalism, dictatorships, or any sort of social system where you had to bow down to any human either.
Of course they did not come to the world with the socialist "creed" (as if it were a religion!) per se, but indeed the Prophet through the word of Allah brought the word of Zakat, the blessed principle of taxing for fair distribution of wealth and the social welfare. Socialism does not = atheism!
I admit, however, there are plenty of Marxists and Socialists who are absurd in their thinking and want to destroy religion, whom I cannot stand next to.

Hence the person essentially advertises and promotes a false creed, as any religion , political or economical philosophy which is contrary to the Islamic creed ( the absolutely true way of life) must necessairly be false.
The socialist creed is the other end of the spectrum , an extreme response to the capitlaist creed, its primary attraction is borne out of unethical economic systems operating in various parts of the world.

Are the Danish socialists the foremost left-leaning party in the country?
I know little about her but judging by the wikipedia page, she seems like she's a successful and confident woman - good luck to her.
All political parties have ideological heritage. Islam doesn't tell us how to think every step of the way, and besides, people's interpretation of Islam also varies considerably.
Tax, health policy and education policy often play the most improtant roles in elections. I imagine these are largely unaffected by her faith.

2.5% taxation across the board is grossly unfair if its the only form of tax. Zakaat is a religious duty and not an economic basis for the running of a state in the modern world. Those who earn more, should pay a higher percentage of their wages as tax, and everyone should be able to have healthcare and education, regardless of their economic or social status. 2.5% isn't going to cover any of that, let alone social security and infrastructure.

Do you know anything about the tax system in USA, UK , or other European countries. When you do, trust me you'll find the "islamic tax" system much more preferable.

:confused::confused: I was thinking I was the only one that felt something is wrong with this comment... I am completely baffled by her view on this topic.
