I would like to opt for that elective which has more demand and scope. But I don't have anyone to suggest me.Pls advise me on this. Please write as soon as possible.

as salamu alaikum,

my bro just completed his, and i can't wait till i complete mines :inlove:

one of his advice to me was: DO NOT GO INTO FINANCE. It would seem like it's a option that's always in demand but all of his friends are still looking for jobs after completing it within the year (some way more than 1 year). And for friends who completed BBA with concentration in finance more than 3 years ago, are doing terrible. Some are working crap jobs with very little pay. Going into accounting would have been a better option than "finance".

systems is a field that's set to grow and it's a very exciting field (i'm doing a concentration in that myself). I worked in the marketing industry for a very short while, and I found it to be a very fun field. and marketing is something that's so crucial to business that companies are spending more and more money in that sector and so it's a area you should consider aswell. HR is ofcourse without a doubt a good field because people always need to be managed :)

^ HR

hmm...why don't you do a SWOT* analysis and see what suits you fine? 'cause personal choices differ?

khair, i plan to pursue an MBA soon inshaAllah, and will never take up marketing again - just too much of exaggeration and dirty tactics involved. Finance was never my forte. Systems - i don't know!

*i'm kidding but no harm doing it yeah?

HR is okay, but I worry about the job opportunities, Finance I'm inclined towards but then i don't want a boring desk job, marketing I find really fun, and I'm creative and can be cut throat :p, Systems not sure what you mean by that, information systems? I wouldn't want to do that.

So I'd say marketing or finance.

as salamu alaikum,

actually you're right on. this life is nothing more than a business in itself, and we could do a SWOT analysis. Infact, sometimes we do SWOT analysis without even realizing it, ex: choosing between two items for purchase, choosing between which college to attend, etc.

though there is one thing the brother should remember and that is: do what YOU want to do. Whatever you choose, make sure YOU are happy doing it and don't just pick an area simply because of others because you might end up hating it and repeat taking classes all over again just to correct a mistake.

Look into acquisitions ... real estate ...

Look at a piece of property and and ask yourself ... "How can I make money off this?" ...

It's somewhat risk/reward until you get the hang of it ...

Completed by MBA around two years back. But here's what I'd suggest for you:

Your primary choice should be Finance. Banks and other financial institutions have huge demands for it.

Your second choice should be HR. You could find a suitable managerial position in a company.

Third choice, you might not like it. Do specialization on both. Have one major and one minor in your MBA. Personally, I majored in Finance and minored in Marketing.

But bare in mind. Finance pays off better than HR. :)

SWOT Analysis is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a project or in a business venture. It involves specifying the objective of the business venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieving that objective. For example:

Strengths: attributes of the organization that are helpful to achieving the objective.
Weaknesses: attributes of the organization that are harmful to achieving the objective.
Opportunities: external conditions that are helpful to achieving the objective.
Threats: external conditions that are harmful to achieving the objective.
