Are couples that divorce, not allow to marry one another without having to go through another marriage? Can anyone explain that to me.

Thanks

It shows the seriousness of talaaq in Islam, It's not something to be taken lightly, although this is only after 3 talaaqs (I think, somebody correct me if i'm wrong).

Also it's Allah's law so we hear and obey.

Somebody can elaborate further Insh'Allah.....

So there's no reason to it other than to add emphasis to the Talaaq declaration?

That only happens if you say talaq 3 times. I think if u said talaq 3 times, u need to question yourself, why would you want to marry that person again

Maybe to make you think twice before you play with your words, or make threats.

Yes it does really emphasis the severity, so that people can not do talaq, change mind and go back together, divorce again, like in and out of marriage as if it is a joke not to be taken seriously. I dont know if there is another reason allahu alam, but this would make people think twice. If a husband is considering to talaq his wife, and he wasn't sure then no way will he go through with it knowing that if he wants her back then before this she has to consumate the marriage to another person, whereas if he can just talaq and then come crawling back again maybe he would take it lightly... and then maybe some men would abuse the issue of divorce more, which would be very hard for the women. It gives more a security like this doesnt it

Subhanallah.. this is proof that everything in Islam has wisdom behind it. sis Anna basically said it all. This rule applies after the couple divorce each other 3 times.

I know of someone who said talaq three times and has tried every trick in the book to try get back with his ex wife. It messes up a womans mind, like a mind game or a kid chucking his toy out of his pram and keep getting u to pick it up again uff.

Im glad theres such a thing as talaq. Ahh Islam is so perfect mashAllah! TabarakAllah!

Its to make you think twice before saying something which u may well regret later and its also about makeing u realise the importance of marriage thats its not to be taken lightly at all.

It makes it essentially impossible to remarry the person whom you've divorced.

What this law is basically saying is, "If you were so determined to end your marriage in the first place, chances are that the two of you really shouldn't be together at all."

I think this is why Islam requires such a long "cooling off" period before people can actually divorce -- eg, calling in all the wallis, family members, scholars, etc. to try to repair the situation.
