As Salaamu Alaikum,
I went grocery shopping today, but as soon as I came back my neck just starts hurting. I hope I haven’t pulled a muscle. The time that happened I couldn’t move my neck for 2 weeks.
I’m moving it around, and I’m going to take some paracetamal. Is there anything else I could do?
Jazaak Allaahu Khair.

is tha a trend? hurtin ya neck? at a grocery store? i didnt no men did grocery shopping:eek3:Well I figured I could spend £17 and make my own sandwiches, to last for at least a whole week, or carry on spending £10 a day on food I really am not fond of. It was a situation that required my in-depth analytical skills, as well my resolve to find a resolution using my avid skills in problem solving. So as you can see, it was a very masculine grocery shopping today.

Hmmm lay down without putting your head on a pillow, your head and spine should be on the same level, no elevation business :D
Also you can use ice to relieve the pain, put ice in a bag and hold it for a few minutes where it hurts, this relaxes the muscles.
Wrap a scarf around your neck - you have to keep it warm, your neck and your back and shoulders too. Also make sure your pillow is comfortable and supports your neck when you go to sleep. I know how horrible neck pain is - I've had it before when I turned too quickly and 'clicked' my neck :( worst thing was that I couldnt drive because of it. If the pain is really bad I remember I got some tablets that stop the muscles going into spasm and also some gel that helps but that was more for back pain. Try taking some ibuprofen maybe? Do put put a scarf round your neck though (wrap it firmly round - but not so its strangling you or uncomfortable) Hope you feel better soon :)

I sleep on the floor, facing up. I think I'm going go sleep now and see if I wake up any better in the morning. Jazaak Allaahu Khair.

Heat should help some. A heating pad, hot water bottle, or hot bath may relax the muscle. Or, you could try this.... Might be more flexible for the neck area. Yeah, I know it's from a pregnancy site... but, it's still a good source of relieving aches and pains!
A rice sock can be used to help relieve the aches and pains of pregnancy, ease the tension of a headache or a sore muscle, and even help with baby after birth.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes
Here's How:
Gather your supplies.
Cut or tear a small corner of your bag of rice off.
Pour rice into open tube sock. Use between 1.5 and 2 lbs. More for a firmer rice sock, less for a less firm sock.
Tie the end of the sock to prevent rice from spilling out.
Heat in your microwave for 2-3 minutes, depending on your microwave.
Use to relieve pain or aid in relaxation.Tips:
Do not use minute rice.
A gray tube sock will not show dirt as quickly.
Some people enjoy using lavendar or other aromas in their socks. Simply add some prior to sealing the sock.
You can also stick the sock closed for a fancier sock.
Buck wheat, corn and other grains can also be used instead of rice. What You Need:
Tube Sock
1.5 - 2 lbs plain ricehttp://pregnancy.about.com/cs/laborbasics/ht/ricesock.htm

I believe that paracetemol is the same thing that we call acetaminophen over here or tylenol. For muscle aches and pains, it's not the best choice because it merely blocks the pain signal. What you need is a drug that's more like a NSAID or non steroidal anti-inflamatory drug like aspirin or my favourite choice, ibuprofen.
It works by not only blocking the pain but it also minimizes inflamation due to injury. Alternating heat and ice will also help too.
Brother, next time that you go to the grocery store, looking down is a lot easier on the neck rather then whipping your head around quickly to see that red head in the dairy aisle :p

I don't like flowery smells so when I make rice bags I like to add a pouch of dry vegetable soup mix.

It's an over the counter medication that is as safe as tylenol.

u consider it very strong? wow, wait til you get older...
i know to much of it is hard on your kidneys, liver. but when you start creeping over age 40 you start to compromise.. oh..an organ or two here and there for a day of no pain...

Hope you feel better soon.
I had terrible stiff neck once when i got up one morning... the pain was so bad I couldn't move my head without crying. went to doc... gave me pain killer...:smack: when i needed treatment badly... put me into therapy, that didn't help for months... finally was introduced to osteopathy and it worked. It was all due to emotional stress accumulated over months and years.
one year later, it happened to the other side of my neck (stress out again). i tried accupunture this time, work 1st time but not subsequent time, went back to osteopathy and it worked again!
spine is very important, holds the body and nerves... take care of it!

no, I don't consider it strong sister Tahiyah <smiles>
my biology teacher told us that too much tylenol is not good so its better to use panadol/paracetamol

bro Hisham, you should do the following:
1) Keep your hand on the place of pain.
2) Say BismiLlah thrice
3) The say A'audubiLlahi 'IzatiLlahi Wa Qudratuhu Min Sharri Ma Ajadu Wa Ahazhar 7 times
this from authentic Sunnah taken from Imam Ibn al Qayyim's book Healing with the Medicine of the Prophet :saw:
