Assalaamu Alaykum,

I was wondering whether anyone knew of swimming sessions in East London that were 'truly' women only? I have been looking at leisure centre/swimming pools and they have this clause that says something along the lines of "although we try our utmost to have female lifeguards we may need to have a male one due to health and safety issue." what health and safety issues?????

I have heard about the swimming sessions for women only in Ilford (Locksford School?) geared at Muslims but that is only on Sundays and I would prefer to go a few times a week inshaAllah.

Do any sisters go swimming on a regular basis and have always had female lifguards? I don't want to have to sign up somewhere and then find out a guy is sitting at the pool side   :outta:

:jkk:

Wasalaam,

not East London but I find in Islington it is alright, the ones ran by the normal leisure centres, there are a few and just one centre says they may have male lifeguards but the others are women only staff for that and i go to one of em n it is fine. But the problem with it is that its only once per week per pool, and its quite late esp now maghrib is so early so its dark by that time... but the lifeguards is not a problem. its not muslim only though, so depends what views u follow about covering infront of non muslim women

Salaamu Alaykum

This is probably useless and way WAY impractical but just in case you move to north west london (oops) - There's a good one my younger sister attends in the Alperton area... Of course I thought I'd just tell you IN CASE you move to north-west London.

All the best with it anyways

Salaam

Walaykum Salaam,

JazakAllahu khairan for the responses. InshaAllah I will check what day the Islington one is and maybe go there as well.

Has anyone heard of Leyton Lagoon. I have heard that they have women only days as well that are 'legit'. Does anyone actually go to these sessions?

I haven't been but know of people who have been, its ran by Muslims n from what I have heard the segregation is proper and its done right. I think they have it on saturdays right but then they do like one sat for bros then one for sis, enabling u to go only fortnightly? Well not sure but thats what i thought neway from last yr (never got round to going, its kind of a trek for me to get all the way there :smack: ) - i think they have gym n all that stuff aswell for women's only use @ same time as the swimming
