No, u cant just be a Muslim based on the Quran - you have to take from the Sunnah, in order to find out the fundementals and ways of doing things.

For example, the Quran tells us to pray, but does not specify how to. Whereas the Sunnah gives us a step-by-step way of how to carry out the prayer.

There are many examples if this (which I cant think of just yet). But im not sure about the other sects. I know Shia's do things against Sunni islam and vice versa. Allahu Alim on that.

Hope that helps.

Maybe someone with more knowledge can add to this.

Thanks for the help I get the basic idea now. I was thinking about Evangelical Christians because they are strictly Bible Christians and was wondering if Muslims could do the same with the Qu'ran.

No you can't, do not be fooled by this kind of idea because if you do this then you will be outside of Islam actually. you have to accept Hadith aswell its totally compulsory so please be careful

Can you accept hadith and not be part any divisions of Islam such as Sunni, Shi'a, Sufi, Kharijite?

Can you accept hadith and not be part any divisions of Islam such as Sunni, Shi'a, Sufi, Kharijite?Sunni and Sufi (as well as Salaafi) are all Sunni i.e. they are part of Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa'. Sunni means those who follow the Sunnah (i.e. hadith). Sunni/Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa' is not a division of Islam, it is Islam.

Although this isn't Comparative Religion, please allow me to clarify something.

No matter what some Christian groups might say, there is no such thing as a "Bible only" Christian.

All Christians, whether they admit it or not, or are aware of it or not, follow one theological tradition or another. All Christians interpret the Hebrew Bible and New Testament in one way or another.
